Wheel Offset?

Ok kids, I know this has been discussed already, but (search function)...
So, I'm looking to go with a set of superlegerra's in 18 or 19 inch size (I'm waiting on pricing) Anyway, what offset will be best? I don't want to go with a drastically low profile tire... I want some ride comfort... but would like to fit the largest size wheel possible. Thanks for any help.
Also, any recomendations on a good summer tire? I want to be safe in the rain, but I will have a different set for winter.
Thanks again

Are you asking about offset? Or tire size?

If you are looking at the Superleggas, I think there is only one size available. Anything close to 45 mm will work.

Tire size will vary depending on rim width.

+35mm works PERFECTLY on 18x8s

I have Yokohama AVS ES100s in 235/40R18 on 18x8 ADR Dolces (+35mm offset). I have gotten TONS of compliments on how the car looks. the rims line up almost perfectly in the front to the fender lip.

Here's a pic...I'm trying to get it as my sig...

Check out 2K2DEMAX's car, he has 18x8 Superleggeras with the 35mm offset. Looks sweet.

wait, is the last number (ex. 235 40 18) the wheel size? If so, the legerra comes in 19" x 8" only in 40mm offset. Should I assume that would be ok?
btw, that pic of 2k2demax's car looks great, but the links (http://thelittlebaby.dhs.org/maxsig.jpg ) don't work.

Yes, but the middle number is not the offset. I think that is where you are confused. Offset has nothing to do with tire size.

Tire size: 235 (width) 40 (height of sidewall, which is a percentage of the width) 18 (wheel size).

Thanks guys, I hope to be getting the 19's and will be shopping for tires. We'll see how well the 40mm offset works out (that's the only offset available on the 19's)

zeitgeist57, that link is up now, looks great... I like the no spoiler look with the chrome rims.

if anyone else has any input on good summer tires that do reasonably well in rain, let me know.

Im shopping around for rims and dont know much about them. What exactly is offsetting? Plus, the bolt sizes... 5x120... or something like that.. will that fit our maxes?

5 x 4.5 or 5 x 114.3 (same thing, different unit of measurment) is the size for the maxima. The offset is basically how deep into the wheel the connection to the axel is. I forget the details of how the offset numbers are measured, but the asu174 says that anything close to a 45mm offset is ok, and said that even a 40mm offset would be ok.

Lower offset will move the edge of the rim farther out. Higher offset will move the inside edge of the rim closer to the suspension components. Anything lower in number than 45 will work fine. Anything higher could rub.

Does the size the the rim width matter? our stock i believe 17x7. So if were to get 19x8.5 with the offset, will the rims stick out or will there be a problem?

These might be questions already answered, but since search is down..

Ok, to my wheels expert. Give me your recommendation please:

18X7.5 5-114.3 45Offset $245.00

18X8 5-114.3 38Offset $255.00

Am I going to run into a problem with the 38mm offset if I go 18x8 and also, should I pay the extra $10 for a 1/2" since I plan to run 235/40/18. Thanks

Alright, I have a set of wheels that I am willing to sell. They are BBS RS2's 18x8.5 w/a 40mm offset. A perfect fit for the 5th gen max. I shod these multi-piece wheels with 245/40/18's and they ride great. If you are interested in purchasing them, you can email me at edwardleeis@yahoo.com. I am looking to get somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000 for them.

Don't do the 7.5's. Leave these wheels for the Hondas. Go with the 8.5 with the +38 offset. This should provide a perfect fit.
