Well I brought my Max into the dealership to check out a cylinder #5 misfiring. Get the call and the service guy says that they need to replace all 6 ignition coils w/ coil assemblies. Cost is around $900. Im like,"damn are you sure". Then he goes im sure. I dunno but luckily my extended warranty covered the whole thing minus a $50 deductible...finally an extended warranty that worked. Now the car is rock solid and no SES light.

I wouldnt call them quoting $900 a good dealership story.. by all means, no members should go there. thats 200% markup and $600 an hour labor (1/2 hour job).

what's the mileage on your car? cuz it's cover under 36k/3year warranty... so you may not even have to pay for the 50 bucks deductable

I had to pay the deductible because my car has 40,000+ miles so my extended warranty kicked in. Since i have the silver package it requires a $50 deductible...small price to pay for a one day service on my car and 6 brand new ignition coils.

Good to hear you avoided dealer BS.
I had a similar experience. at about 45k I had SES come on. dropped the car at the dealer at 7am, they called me at 9 telling me that my coils were bad. I pick the car up at lunch. Paid $50. It was my first Nissan Service experience and I thought it was great. Then I found .org and saw that I was lucky to avoid the hustle.

Glad that you had such good luck. I got screwed out of $700.00! They told me that they would have to change all 6 of the coils. This is obviously a defect with the Maximas.

WOW!!! So you actually had to pay. I had all six done but the extended warranty covered the whole thing. Were you under warantee, extended, or none?

Yes I did. I didn't have an extended warranty. I was over 36,000 miles so basically out of luck!!

if we didnt have 2 good places to get discount parts, we'd all be paying $500 for coils and with diag and labor, $200 sounds high, but not unbelieveble. So you werent *totally* taken as far as dealerships go. Its outrageous, but dont beat yourself up about it.
