!!!ECU Update For Throttle By Wire!!!
Here is how I see it, I don't see it as bringing it up to spec. WHY? Well the big picture is that this TSB also applies to the 3.5 Altima. UNLESS
The ECU flash for the altima decreses power

Anyone get this done in NYC yet? Beiner Nissan refused to do this becuase they couldn't "replicate" the hesitation problem. I am looking for a dealer who will just do the upgrade without a big argument . . .
The dealer did confirm that my ECU is the right version for the upgrade and the new MAF.
Anyone know how much the new MAF would cost if I wanted to pay to have this done?

Just kinda interested me when the "if you confirm" parts were different, anyone go about "How to" recreate the problem in an auto

My bad.
Sorry.
I should have said "Software update". NT 4 SP6 comes to mind. Even with BIOS upgrades, often they come out to fix hardware incompatibilities with RAM, video cards, or SCSI cards. Since Nissan's don't generally come with third party hardware, it's a bad analogy.

This is in my experience.
Again, in my experience, updates usually clear up some aliments that user/consumers don't really see/feel. Any there are plenty of examples, ie. a simple tweak in the way chipset communicates with main memory can improve performance and resolve software bugs.
Car, IMHO, are the same, and for that matter much anything that is software controlled...EVEN mobile phones!!!...
Back to the point, most updates ARE beneficial, this doesn't mean that one should get ALL updates that come out, especially in this particular instance (ECU). As I said before, the "improvement" in performance the some are seeing, maybe in fact just an update to bring the car up to specs...
Has anyone who has had the ECU update FOR the hiccup driven a non-hiccuping Max???...or vice-versa???...

ABS,
If you absolutely are getting nowhere with your dealership, I can e-mail you my letter describing the symptom(s) and the "how and why" to replicate it. I plan to go armed with this to my dealer on Tuesday. The difference is, is that your dealer has access to these TSBs while mine may not (because I'm a second class Canadian
)
Let me know.

That would be great! I am actually thinking about using a two pronged approach. With your letter, I may be able to get them to replicate the hesitation, but I am also going to complain about a power loss . . . I think initially, I am not going to tell the dealer about either specific TSB . . . it will be better if they tell me about it first. Only if that strategy fails, will I show them the TSB's we have here on the .org.
Please e-mail me the letter if you can.
Don't go to Star either, they refused to do it. I'll have to try Koppel next.

My car seems fine. They ended up not replacing any coilpacks but they did replace the MAF. Combined with the ECU reprogram, I think she's healthy.
Now I just need to get an Apexi filter for my Injen before I reinstall. After that, maybe I'll get back to the track.

Pretty painless since I was working at a client less than 5 miles away.
While you are there, take the 350z for a test drive, or the 2004 Maxima for that matter. I had to get back to work both times, so there was no time to play.

I also said that "I thought it was normal until a friend brought the TSB to my attention". I just asked if they would perform the Hesitation TSB for the 2002-2003 Maxima. The service Rep (Jerry) wasn't aware of the TSB, but one of the other guys overheard our conversation and schooled him on the issue. I left the dealership, and got a call a little while later to "pick up the car and to make an appointment when the MAF comes in". Three days later the parts guy called me, and I made the follow up appointment.

Sorry if this was already mentioned. I know that the MAF #'s of: 22680-6n200 & 22680-6n201 are the bad MAF's. Just found out that I had the first one. Anyway, is there any documentation I may need that lists these serial numbers as the one affected? I have the TSB that says the new part #. I just want to be preparred for rediculous answers they may throw my way........Thanks!

. And the MAF will have to be replaced too. So, I am going back next week (they are waiting for a new MAF to come in) and they will fix it altogether.

Playero,
I did it yesterday and they reprogrammed by ECU, but said I didnt need the MAF. I can feel a difference the slight lag I had is gone although I never had that big of aproblem like some.

Playero,
Where in the MAF are these numbers printed? Just wondering if my 2k2 has one of these.
I've also gotten the TSB done and haven't really noticed anything, but I don't count. I went from a WAI to stock for a week before having it done, so everything seems slow to me. I've gotten the update done, but haven't converted back to WAI/CAI yet. I'm planning on converting back soon, and I'll have dyno numbers in another week or two. The dyno shop I'm using has just gotten their new dyno installed and is setting me up once they've finished all the testing.... Geez I need some tuning... I wish they'd hurry up!!!

Well I got my car back from the dealer Monday afternoon but I had to leave the state that afternoon/ I finally got a chance to go out today but didnt notice too much of a difference in power. I put my intake back on and went out and romped around for a little while. No more hesitation really. Either way I got a new MAF and the upgraded code so I am a happy camper.
