Idle speed for auto?

Any of you guys know the normal idle speed for an Automatic?
If my memory serves me right, I believe it should be from 650rmp-725rmp once warm up? How low of an idle speed before you start to be concern about the MAF's failure? Just curious...

FYI: I am running stock intake w/K&N filter.

Re: Idle speed for auto?

Stock it was like 725-750 at operating temp. With my injen, its the same. I had a MAF failure on my 2k1 ( i have a 2k3 now), but i never saw a low idle. I was driving, then the engine stopped responding to the throttle, then a little shaking, then she went dead.

So if my idle registers at 650rmp, I should be concerned? I noticed this idle speed whenever the temperature gets colder. Otherwise, the idle is at steady 725rmp.

my idle was 700-713 according to the consult and i bumped it to 750. it seemed to idle odd even though it was a small increase so i had them turn it back down to 713-725. 650 seems rather low, do you have a udp? ive never experienced any symptoms of a bad maf so i couldnt help out there.

I actually got a "Idle RPM HIGH" code because I was idling around 850 for awhile.. I'm back down to 800 now though..

i raised mine because i had a ticking noise with my UDP. it might be in my head but it feels slightly smoother taking off of the line with less hesitation. are you manual or auto?

I don't have UDP...it seems fine but I was just curious to know the proper idle speed range at normal operating temperature. Usually the idle info is under the hood on most cars. There is a sticker under the hood indicating that the idle speed is automatically adjusted? No specific number is shown.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does MAF and UDP stand for? Thanks.

I bought my 03 Maxima in December and I noticed that when the car is warmed up it idles at 650.

are you 5spd or auto? the only way to adjust it is to hook it up to a consult 2 at nissan or nissan specific shop and it will take about 5 minutes.

I got a 2k3 auto about 9000 miles ago but I idle around 500, maybe even lower. Should I be concerned? I notice that there is one larger bar at the start of the rpm meter and then there are 5 more normal sized bars and I'm right in the middle of those 5. Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Thanks in advance.

Just brought my 2k3 SE Auto for it's 3750 oil change, and mentioned that the idle was around 400 when in gear. They upped it to around 700.

I count the large bar on the bottom as zero, and 200 per bar after that. It was on the second bar, now it's between the third and fourth.

i cant tell you if you are reading it wrong but if it is at 500 then i would definately be concerned. take it back to nissan for them to adjust it. my 2k1 idles at 713-725 but i had mine bumped up from right under 700.
