can I replace my standard CD player with the Bose in-dash changer?
I'm about to buy a 2002 Maxima but it doesn't have the Bose system in it. I was told that there was no way to buy the Bose in-dash changer head unit and install it.
I was hoping that I could buy the unit and then buy better aftermarket speakers and amps.
Any help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The bose system has the subwoofer that the reg system doesnt have. It might not work w/o the sub installed. I havent looked into this, but i know its gonna cost ya. You might as well yank the stock unit and get a badass aftermarket one.

that's what I want to do (yank the factory unit) but I don't think I can get an in dash 6 disc cd changer that will fit. Doesn't the bose system have external amps anyway?

yes, it has an external amp on the subwoofer. Nissan had an in dash 6 disc changer for 2k-2k1 maximas w/o the bose system. Your radio now is a single DIN correct? if so, then the changer can fit under it. If not, then it cant.
