what will catback do for me?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10368

is the above exhaust system any good?
-what about the Cattman CB-G5?
-Stillen?

will a catback system including the mid-pipe do anything for me?

i want to get an exhaust system, but only if it will give me some improvement.

all i have is an k&n cone filter w/frankencar adaptor.

i don't think i want to mess with a Y-pipe. seems like people are running into problems with them.

also don't want a ricer sounding exhaust either.

any feedback would be great.
thanks

kj

You will see the best gains with a Y-pipe. You might see a little gain with a cat back, but not nearly as much as the y-pipe. In my opinion, our cars don't sound ricey with full exhaust because we don't have little four bangers we have a big VQ. Just my .02

That is a touchy subject. The people that dropped 500 bucks on a system will tell you it has good gains. You may gain 5 hp, not much, not worth the amount of money for them. You will get the same amount of gain from a home grown system, custom bent stuff for like 1/2 or even 1/3 the price. but like pimp said. Y-pipe is the best option for gains in the exhaust area.

Just a point of info:

I'm not saying it's not good, but that ebay exhaust doesn't look like a real Greddy Evo.

Steve from Frankencar has that exhaust on his car. It is a knockoff of the Greddy Evo. It is a good deal. Not much different from a real greddy. It will give you a good rumble. If you dont want noise, stay stock.

The y-pipe for the 2k and 2k1 remove the pre-cats, so no for those. The warpspeed y-pipe for 2k2 and 2k3 leave the pre-cats. I don't know if the warpspeed removes the main cat, but in general any time you remove cats from the car you won't pass emissions. Cat-back means the only thing changes is from the main cat back, so you still can pass emissions.

That is no true.....even though the pre-cats are removed on the 2K-2K1, you can still pass emissions...you just have to wait for the main cat to reach operating temperature.

Thats good to know, thanks. Also, do you know if you always through a code when the pre-cats are removed or just sometimes. I am just curious because the stillen headers remove them.

that's why you have to remove that O2 sensor to your b-pipe. that sensor needs to be after a cat.

Sounds good to me. The problem is when you have no cats to put the O2 sensor behind.

Also, if you look at the pics for the headers, there are spots for all four O2 sensors. My question was asking if you remove the pre-cats, will you definately through a code (if no O2 sensors were moved).

if you leave it there, it will throw you a code. several individual who did feb spec conversion had to drill a hole on their bpipe and relocate the o2 sensor.

That O2 sensor has to be located after a cat. unless stillen have some way to go around it.
