Magnaflow stainless mufflers

Anyone put the magnaflows on their exhaust yet? if so how loud over stock? I am doing a custom catback, and have a warpspeed Y already. The magnaflow is straight through, but packed with padding. I am also adding a magnaflow resonator. all perforated core. and I am afraid it will sound like a rustang with open headers.

Thanks!

You have much to fear.

I would advise AGAINST a straight-through muffler in combination with a Y-pipe. Even with a resonator in the B-pipe, your exhaust may well turn out to be noisier than you like.

If you want my recommendation, check my signature.

it's loud, i got a budget b with res and a magnaflo on my 2k3. some think it's loud i personaly don't mind it and since i'm a 6spd i can keep the rpms a little above or below the 2500rpm(which is here it's the loudest)so if it does bother me i just change gears.

I can also say that its gonna be loud, cuz I have a y-pipe with a resonator and a magnaflow muffler. It not really "loud" as in ricey just soooo damn deep it gets anoying. In the low rpms (below 2500) ive said this be4 and ill say it again, the magnaflow hits better low notes then some subs can. I wish I was joking but im most probably gonna switch to what y2kse has and I belive thata a dynomax, and I cant find the link sooo y2kse id u still got the link u wanna hook it up?

It will be really loud

I had a custom cattback installed with a magnaflow dual tipped muffler. This setup was way too loud for me when cruising at 2000-3000 rpm's. I have an autotragic and couldn't control the rpm's like the 6 speeds can. The sound of the car at idle was awesome and i received numerous compliments on the look and sound, but the noise inside at certain RPM's was driving me crazy. I would recommend you install the Y-pipe first before removing the stock muffler, you may like the sound of that setup.

The DynoMax Super Turbo is the quietest aftermarket performance muffler available for use on a 5th Gen Maxima. It sounds great with a Y-pipe. And it's dirt cheap. The muffler alone runs around $65.00.

Dude I said this in ur other thead, just get the resonator. Its not gonna hurt the performance and ur gonna want 1 after u hear what ur car sounds like w/o it anyway. Think about this, I have a 3.0 with a y-pipe, cattman b-pipe with a resonator and a magnaflow ss muffler and its LOUD, sound sweet at idle but it gets anoying at times and I have a resonator. U have a 3.5 and if u get a Y-pipe and a catback with a resonator its still gonna be slightly louder considering u get a straight threw muffler. I still say get the res cuz ur gonna regret it so if u get a b-pipe w/o a resonator and dont like it, remember I said this and good luck.

Re: Magnaflow stainless mufflers

Straightthru + no resonator + ypipe=lots of noise

I mean LOTS of it. At least that's how my ultraflo is... and though lots of magnaflow fans will bash me for saying this, I think the ultraflo has more airflow, but still... you'll be loud.

You can't have it both ways, GreekMaxima. And you're right, Jer. The Ultra Flo is unsurpassed for scavenging. In a NA Maxima, however, I doubt that amounts to a real difference in performance versus any other straight-through muffler.

Thanks Y2KSE,

How does yours sound with the magnaflow setup you have? is it a lot louder than stock?
Or should I keep the stock muffler? After all how restrictive is it?

Ill answer that 4 u. First off he doesnt have a magnaflow hes got a dynomax muffler, and thats probably the quietest next to stock, just gives a slightly deeper tone as y2kse has described. The stock muffler isnt too restrictive at all, changing the muffler is more of a cosmetic mod on N/A max's. If u want the most noise suppresion and performance keep the stock muffler and upgrade the rest of ur exhaust.

Its the 1 with the dual 3" tips, I couldnt go any bigger due to the bodykit which has only a 7" opening.

Which size am I looking for? I'm looking through the site and it doesn't have listings for Nissans above 1996, so then I look at there selections. There are only two mufflers that looks like a 5th gen muffler (center inlet, dual outlets) Which one did you choose and which size? $65, I'm ordering mine
