I won't ask for help again after this one :)

And that's a promise
But when you guys wired up your S-AFCs, which pin did you ground to? Better yet, which pin is the MAF ground? FSM says 73, but my pin 73 has no wire in it! F@$#!@

Wait, hold on there smoky!
What you need that wire for? You dont need a MAF ground wire.
The MAF wire is a WHITE wire off 61 and that needs to be cut. the one going to the harness side is going to be spliced to the IN wire on the SAFCII which is the WHITE wire on the SAFCII. Then the wire you cut that goes into the ECM plug, that gets spliced to the OUT wire of the SAFCII which is the YELLOW wire on the SAFCII.
No where do you need to use the MAF ground. I was reading earlier in your other thread that you thing kept going on and off, if you soldered the SAFCII to the MAF ground, than that is your problem there. Use ground wires off pin 106 or 108. Both thick BLACK wires.

Ok, I think we have found part of the problem.
I tried pins 57, 106, 108, and 48 for ground! Only 57 produced a signal (the one that intermittently went on/off and eventually off until ignition was set back to on). The other three did -nothing-
That's why I started digging around the forums and saw the 4th gen diagram (pin to the right of the MAF pin is for MAF ground), and then started to research Jime's suggestion of looking for the MAF ground.. hence pin 73 (which also happens to have NO wire).
You'd think I have the damn thing upside down or something, but nope.. it ain't there...
Now here's where things get more complicated : did all of your ECM wire colours match the diagram at http://boostedmaximas.com/ecu_pins.jpg ?
I located my tapped pins based on pin location when comparing the diagram to my harness... and most of the wires did not match the ones in the .jpg. In fact, I'm pretty sure the only matching one was the power/red... uhoh... don't tell me Canadian 5th gens are different? I know the 4th gens aren't - Jime got his S-AFCII in just fine...
..either way, something is very wrong. I'm going to try the hotwire first to see if it isn't the AFC itself, from there I gotta figure out what to do next.
I was thinking of tapping into any other misc. black wire, but I didn't want to end up frying something.

Damn Canadians 5th gens. Now you got me thinking. I got the FSM here in front of me and it dont show anything different. Kevs pinout JPG was off his 2000 and I have a 2001 and all the wire colors matched on the dime.
But 106 and 108 must be some thick black wire, and if so it is ground. Best way is to diode test those wires. Put one end on the pin and the other on a metal frame and see if the diode test beeps, if so, then the ground pin is right.
But still I dont see why it blinks. That tells me the wiring must be different.

See that's the thing, they weren't black! But I didn't want to go against the book and try the others.. even though red is red and black is black, the ECU pinout should be followed nonetheless... or should it... I think I need to go visit the local service manager - he's a good guy and we're on good terms (went for lunch after replacing my o2 sensor on Thurs)... I'm gonna see what info I can snag from their service dept.
The only wire that passed the diode test was the 57
Didn't blink though like the AFC did when it power cycled : it just stayed on for about 5 seconds and shut off... we tried it exactly as you say..I'll post an update when I find out more.. maybe tomorrow night when I get home I can tinker with it for a bit.... but I just can't believe they'd change the wiring like this, we'll see!
