Wind Noise
Wind Noise
I have seen mention of a TSB for wind noise but, with the search feature disabled cannot find more info. I picked up a new 2k3 SE, auto last week, and my wife is complaining of wind noise on the rear doors. Is this covered under this TSB. Does this take care of the problem adequately?
Thanks
Thanks
This is covered under the TSB, I had the problem and the dealer ordered me the kit and is fixing in this week. The trick is, if you want to see if this is the problem, is to masking tape off the rear window divider. The divider is the really small piece on the rear door, cover it completely top and bottom. If you drive the car after doing this and it stops, well the TSB applies, if not keep looking. I told my dealer that I tested the TSB and found this was the problem and the ordered the parts. Hope you have luck, sorry I don't have the TSB Number. Chris
Here is the 02 I35 TSB and from what my dealer said, it is the same for the 02 Max. You can do this yourself with 3/16 x 1/4 inch vinyl tape as used for window seals or soemthing like that at Home Depot. Very easy job.

I just had this done last weekend. HUGE difference. I am very happy and definitely worth the time to drop the car off to get done. The Maxima is just never going to be as quiet as say, a Lexus for example. However, with the rear windows/doors properly sealed it makes a huge difference.

Yeah, just did it myself yesterday. All you need is a roll of interior/exterior double-sided foam tape from Home Depot and the TSB. It works great!

Do you happen to have a good copy of the TSB? I tried printing the one from teh stickies above and some of the detail is very difficult to read.
Thanks!
