Know of any really loud horns?

One day I was coming to a gradual stop at a yellow light
when all of a sudden I heard this really, really loud
HONK! HONK!
I looked in my rear view mirror to see a shiny new Ford F-150
breathing down my backside. (No, his horns were definately
not stock.)

Anyways, ever since then, I've really wanted to get my hands
on a set of horns like that F-150 had. You know...the kind
of horn that would give a heart attack to the person in
front of me.

Anyone know of a good set of horns that will work with my 02 Max?

ps
When the light turned green, I hit the pedal and went from
0-25mph in a good 25 seconds flat.

pps
Just to make sure...anyone know of any laws limiting the decibels
of car horns?

in all seriousness, i think our horns are weak. i honk when gettin someone's attention (not looking while crossing the street) or if someone's cutting me off, etc... with these horns, believe me, i get that persons/cars attention.

and also, i have it tapped into my alarm, so it stands out even more when going off.

I don't use mine to scare or frighten people. It is used to alert or warn someone. Most times I just 'tap' the horn. And when I do occasionally honk for a few seconds, it certainly gets people's attention. They are not near loud enough to cause hearing damage, tho.

I want to mount something like that loud on my motorcycle so people will notice me when I do honk the horn.

Why? What's better than knowing someone almost crapped their pants because of a little button you can press?? Not much....heheh..

I think you can get air horns at some auto parts stores. I'm pretty sure JC Whitney carries them too.

Go to JC Whitney.com and do a search for "air horn." There are plenty to choose from. Cheap too!

Wicked Loud

Check out the Wicked Loud Horns at Serious Auto.
These are electric and sound like a very large 1970's sedan.

someone said 120 dbs. thats pretty high considering the noise levels at work places over like 90 dbs require ear plugs (some sort of workforce law)

these horns are directional. forward only. from inside the car, sounds like a regular horn. stand in front, and it's LOUD, but because it's not reflecting off anything, you don't get the full potential of it. now...........go inside a tunnel, let's just say people thought an 18 wheeler was with them, and then look to see a puny little maxima goin "tap tap"

Great pix of the steps you took.

Why do you need to install a different relay? Why can't you just take off the stock horns...and put these on?

Did anyone use the advice given recently to use the new Altima USA horns??

Thanks

Vic Vogel

My previous experience of aftermarket horns on stock wiring on my 91 max blew a fuse everytime i honked the horn. rather than do the job and find out the hard way if this would blow a fuse, i went along with hella's advice to use a relay. plus, it wasn't all that much harder and i also feel that with more power going to the horns, they will sound louder.
someone wired it up straight and so far has no problem, but then again, he thinks he can get louder if he wires it to the batter as a main source.
