Headlight

2000SE and my headlight just went out. Works ok on high beam but no low beam. Can you change just the bulb on these headlights? If I just stop in at the dealer what should I expect to pay to get a new headlight? Do they have to replace the whole module these days? I don't have the Xenon, wish I did though.

Thanks

I have an 03, so don't quote me on this but if I do remember correctly, the 00-01's had a dual filament H4(?) bulb that handles both high and low beams.

If your low beam is out, one of the filament's is shot and yes you need a new bulb, not whole headlamp.

Buy em from ebay, I wouldn't go to the dealer for a halogen bulb, unless that is you plan on bringing along some lubricant because you will get raped!

It is just an H4 bulb, it would make no sense to have the dealer do anything. They will just put the crap stock bulbs in there anyway.

You may want to also change them both with whatever you buy. Not sure if it really makes a difference, but I like to replace those in pairs to maintain the same 'color', brightness, etc. nevermind the fact that if one went, the other is probably not far behind.

Cool Blues?

Dealer wants like $20 for one bulb. Called Checker and they only want $8.99 for the stock bulb. Checker recommended replacing both with upgraded bulbs. I like that idea. They recommended "cool blue" bulbs that are $15.99/ea. Anybody use those????

want upgraded bulbs go Sylvania Silverstars or Piaas....anything else would be like shooting yourself in the leg, never buy higher wattage bulbs-will burn out fast and risk melting your harnesses.

If you want true HID color, get REAL HID!!!

I used somethin' like that but mine are made by GE aand they cost $15.99 or around there (under 20 I know that). Look at my profile and click to go to my web page. You can see a pic of the GE compared to the fogs on page 1.
