IMO, and through my experience, Michelin MXV's aren't worth crap...they're noisy, bad handling and the sidewalls crack at around 20,000 miles.

I'd go with Falkens, Nittos, even Bridgestone Pole Positions, but expect to pay $$$ for the Poles.....Pirellis are also nice, along with Dunlops and Sumitomos for less $$$

He is referring to the Pilot Sport A/S's which have gotten extremely high reviews here.

I've heard mixed reviews on them. Some like em, some say the sidewalls are too high for their profiles.

First I have heard of this and I have been around for MANY tire threads. What size are you referring to?

Again, I don't recall this being a big issue.

In fact, compared to their own stock sized 225 50/17 A/S, the 235 is about .4" wider but only .5" bigger in diameter. Actually only .25" 'taller' on any given 'side'.

I have acually heard alot more people like them since they help fill out the wheel wells (although it really is a very minimal size difference).

The pilots are great tires.
But mine only lasted a year. I rotated and balanced them every 5k miles with my oil changes. Not worth the money.
I'm already got the falkens on my car and they are just as good IMO

I have been riding on these for about 2500 miles now and I am very happy with them. Since I bought these tires, I have been very impressed with the wet/snow traction. I did not have to break the bank either. I got them for $117.00 mounted and balanced.

Good luck with your decision.

Depends alot upon the construction of the tires and the type...touring vs. high performance...but in general, yes taller is more compliant. On of the main reasons I went mith 225 55/17 myself.

We've got almost 5k on them and ran them in during all the bad snows in Central Ohio. I am very happy with them. Car is much quieter inside and ride is not compromised. I think it is better the Potenza's that came on the car.

Yokohama

I love my Yokohama ES-100s.

They are an awesome ultrahigh performance tire.

BUT they are only a 3 season tire.

They slip like bagles on cream cheese in the snow.

If you live where it does NOT snow, I highly recommned the Yokos.
