2000 Auto Max, No wheel spin?

Hey guys. I've had my 2000 max for about a month now. Well today I decided that I wanted to see just how fast my car could go 0 to 60. Light turns green and I step on the gas. Very little wheel spin. Is this normal. The car does not have traction control. Does this car have absolutely no low end torque? Could something be wrong or is this normal? Thanks

Yeah its normal, the 2000-01 auto max's are the slowest next to the VG 3rd gens. Kinda disapointing isnt it, I got the same problem so ur not alone Its not slow just compared to the 5spd 4th gens, and the 6sp 3.5's they are.

It's all in how you launch. I can launch all day without spinning my tires and still having a good start. Practice what works best with your car's power and tires and you'll get the same results. John you have that problem cuz you're running on slicks.

Same here. I mash the gas and I hear the wheels without torque breaking.

My 2k can do it, but I don't try. I did it once at a light, and I have the 17s and it spun no effort

My Y2K auto will spin just fine...

What is the issue between the 16" rims and the 17" rims? Mine has the 16" rims and seems to be quick enough. I'm not a stop light racer anymore (thank god you mature with age).

Actually alot of factors can affect this...

tires (which type)
inflation
ambient temperature
road surface construction
etc.

They will chirp depending on the tires but just dont expect what see in the 02/03 auto's which will burn up some tires. You should be glad you dont get alot of spin because you will be outta their while som other guy is spinning his tires! Also the 92-94 VE auto are slower than the 00/01 autos, 95-01 are pretty much even with bettr low end for the 95-99 and better high end for the 00/01. The 02/03 auto sent the auto Maxima into a different league in acceleration.

I have to say that I completely disagree with everyone.
I can spin the wheels on my 2k auto NO problem, with the TCS off I can mash the pedal (not even that hard) and the car won't be going anywhere for a while witht he tire spin.

When the TCS is on, if I mash the pedal, I can make the TCS have trouble with the torque without much problems. I'm pretty sure I don't have a freak Max, so I don't understand what other ppl are talking about.

Anyone ever try this with their factory potenzas? I have the 17 inch 6 spoke wheels. I was very shocked in this autos performance. I just traded my 94 grand prix which had much lower torque and horse power but it always seem to lay some rubber. BTW i got my blown away by an integra on my way home from work. Going about 70, looked in the rear view noticed that he was going to go in the right lane that was ending, I punched it an he just flew by me. It took a while for me to catch up to him. The car has just a little over 28000 miles. Was the car like this when it was new?

Mashing the gas pedal is not the best way to launch.

At 28,000 miles you are close enough to change your plugs. I'm at 35,000 and my car felt very sluggish before I changed my plugs. My old plugs were fried. Just a suggestion but if you dogged your car out when you first got it then I'm sure it took a pretty hard toll on the plugs.

Can someone explane what torque-brake means?
What would happen if you put the car in neutral and slammed the gas and then put it into drive?

To make a auto spin, do this.....

Put it in neutral, rev it to redline and hold it(will bounce off rev limiter), this will help make your A/F mixture nice and rich, thus giving the car more torque. Then slam the tranny in 1, this will cause a violent jerking motion and may produce some wheel hop. The car will start spinning and doing a nice burnout, if you armorall the tire tread this will make it nice and slick thus allowing you to spin into second while smoking the tires.

Do this and you will be the envy of all your friends

This is meant to be a joke and Jason will not be held responsible for any damage to your tranny and I have never attempted this and don't recommend it
