I've been looking at various posts/FAQs and I have come up with some questions that I need answered before I upgrade my brakes:

1. what is the difference between the 99 rotors/pads and 2K rotors/pads? Can 99 pads be used with 2K rotors and vice versa? what kind of problems will you get if you mix?

2. What is rotor glazing and spotting? how do you know if you have it and how does it affect performance?

3. How do you know if you have improperly installed you brakes/rotors/lines? What would be a simptom that you did not bleed your brakes completely and you have an air bubble in there?

4. What are the blatant simptoms of brake underperformance (when do you know it's time to upgrade/replace)?

5. What can you tell about how your brakes are working by looking at wear patterns on the rotors?

Thanks in advance.

1. what is the difference between the 99 rotors/pads and 2K rotors/pads? Can 99 pads be used with 2K rotors and vice versa? what kind of problems will you get if you mix?

2K+ are thicker pads

2. What is rotor glazing and spotting? how do you know if you have it and how does it affect performance?

this process is more likely to occur when new pads/rotors are installed. a layer of gas can build up on the surface, causing a lack of friction. if the rotors/pads glaze, stopping efficiency drops.

3. How do you know if you have improperly installed you brakes/rotors/lines? What would be a simptom that you did not bleed your brakes completely and you have an air bubble in there?

if there is air in the line(s), then the brake pedal will feel soft/spongy.

4. What are the blatant simptoms of brake underperformance (when do you know it's time to upgrade/replace)?

when you hit the brake pedal and the car doesn't stop

5. What can you tell about how your brakes are working by looking at wear patterns on the rotors?

Thanks in advance.

if the pads are wearing more on one side than the other, it means the piston is sticking.. lubricate the pins with PBC grease! deep grooves on the rotors means replace the pads!
