Anyone with this problem???
Anyone with this problem???
I have a 2000 Maxima SE....
I was just wondering if all maximas are like this...
I find that my maxima's wheels don't turn as much as other cars do.
So...when I'm parking the car I gotta make a wide turn or gotta do it twice......or when I'm make a U-Turn...its very tight or I gotta do a 3 point turn. I drove many different cars...but I never had problem.
I was just curious if you guys relize this too...b/c when I went to the dealer and asked them...they had no idea what I'm talking about.

oh..ok..cool
ya..I got used to it also...
but I just went to the dealer to look at G35 for my mom's car and asked the dealer about it...and he was saying that I just don't know how to park...and that you have to have good position and angle before you park. It got me so ****ed....

Yep, if you could do a search you would find a bunch of posts on this. The problem is particular to the SE. Acording to those who have consulted manuals, there is a (bigger?) bump-stop which limits steering to something like 3.25 turns lock-to-lock as opposed to the 3.5 normally.
The general concensus is that because of our ridiculously overly huge tires they had to do this to prevent wheel rub while the wheel is completely turned and completely compressed (or extended).
IIRC, some guys have amputated the stop to get a less-than-Queen-Mary turning radus.
I routinely get caught out in shopping malls and paralel parking. It makes me look like a girl taught me to park.

Thanks..
I still love my maxima...just don't like the turning radius of the wheels...
just wondering...
do you know if other Nissan products are like this also? or is it just maxima?
I'm looking to buy G35....and want to know if the turning radius is as bad as Maxima...
Also..the rear-wheel drive on G35....is it bad for the winter?

Extra weight helps with traction, and if you do get stuck, you have some sand handy to help you get unstuck.
Also, get chains if you get frequent snow or ice storms.
