How many quarts of ATF do I need?

Hi,

If I want to have all of my ATF flushed out of the system, how many quarts do I need to buy to refill it?

Thanks,
Matt

I think it's 10.5 quarts, but 12 quarts total to flush and fill. I might be wrong though. Someone with search capability can tell you for sure.

i think the total capacity is 10. if youre taking it to a place to hook it up to a machine then it will take 12 because that is what the machine takes to flush it out. it is a little wasteful. if you drop the pan, youll get about 4.5 quarts out. i did that 2 times with mobil 1 aft then dropped the pan the 3rd time and got closer to 6 quarts out. cleaned the pan and the magnets and replaced the gasket. the paper gasket was a huge pain to get off. the tranny overall feels smoother (maybe in my head) but its also nicer in the morning shifting it out of gear, it doesnt stick anymore.
