I was at a performance shop the other day and asked the owner about having a y-pipe installed on my car and he recommended that instead, I try changing the chip to some kind up performance chip.(I dont remember the brand). anyway, he said that just by adding hte chip it adds like 30-35 hp. is that really true? does that car have that kind of hidden hp? and does the chip open it up?

perhaps if you drove an audi turbo you could pull that much from an ecu or maybe just about any factory turbo. but you wont see gains from a chip on a stock maxima. the statement he made shows just how much he knows about your car, just hope he can do basic exhaust work. how much are they going to charege to put on the Y? there are companies like Jet that you send your ecu off to and they put a sticker on it and send it back. some people that have it say they can feel gains mainly at speeds above 90 if im not mistaken. jim wolf makes chips too but only for early 4th gens.
