Car hesitating to start

Today after work, my car wouldn't start up right away. It cranked over for like 2 seconds and then finally started up.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my Max?

Fuel rail leak down. Usually caused by a leaky injector or failing FPR.
If it gets progressivly worse get in the habit of turning on the ignition for 3 seconds before you start the engine. That will give the fuel pump time to prime the rail.

Woudl a fix on something like this be covered under the original warranty? I'm still under bumper to bumper and am experiencing this problem as well.

Maybe the starter is going bad? Did the starter sound like it was struggling or the engine just wasn't turning over?

You could check into it but as usual the Nissan technicians may not know how to figure it out and tell you there isn't a problem. Let's hope that isn't the case.

Your IACV maybe sticking and need to be cleaned or replaced? Throttle body?? If your starter isn't straining your just not getting the fuel neccesary to start her... I can't say I've heard of a leaky fuel rail? But who knows!

Well it's good to know that I'm not the only one with this problem. Yeah, someone told me about turning on the ignition before starting. I try to do it once in a while. I've never had this problem before, but in the past it has started up, but not smoothly. It hesitated and almost acted like it was going to stall, but then started up to smooth idle.

Considering that my warranty is over with, I can't really take it in to get it fixed for free. I sure can't afford to pay to have it fixed right now.

I had this happen to me. I was told that the max loves to pure fuel into the engine during the initial startup. If you let go the key to early wait a few seconds before trying to crank it again. The engine will flood if you don't. If you flood the engine hold the gas all the way down to the floor and crank it. This will cutoff the fuel pump and burn the gas in the cylinders. Let go the gas once it cranks over.

TimW articulated this problem several months ago. Unfortunately I can't search for it.

It happens to me

I experinced this after one month with my car back in April '01.I have an SE auto with 29k on it now. It happens to me sometimes when the car is warm, driven then re-started after about an hour.If I put the key in the ignition, wait a second or two, then engage the fuel pump for a couple of seconds before cranking, the car always turns over.
