actually dude...Costco does a VERY good job of mounting/balancing. Only prob is usually you have to buy the tires from them.

Pep Boys, believe it or not on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown did a bangup job on my chromies on my old ride...and they don't charge much

Pep Boy's quality of service makes me nervous, but hey, that could just be the shop by me.

What does them speaking english have anything to do with this thread??

Ooookaaayyy.........as seeing your profile says you're from Queens, I can see where your coming from, but, did it ever occur to you that there are other FOB and Indian customers out there who also can't speak english, but they look for service from them? It's only fair, right?

SPTA, sorry to go OT, but have you tried the local Michellin or GoodYear shops? Maybe Firestone? Just a thought.

My buddy and I (rims were for his car) ended up going to the House of Tires. The guy who answered the phone / worked behind the desk was very angry ( ) . However, the guys actually doing the work seemed really nice. We dropped the rims off with the tires and picked them up 45 minutes later. No scratches or anything so thanks for the advice!

Hey, what you guys got against Indians?! They can speak english, just not to your level. Coming from a different country, atleast they can speak with the limited education they get.

I've got nothing against anyone that comes to this country and can speak our language...it's like me going to India or China or anywhere else....I am expected to know their language...similiarly I would expect the same for people coming here. Unfortunately, this proves NOT to be the case when in Queens.

As for your LIer's, whomever wants to meet up I'm always down...

Silvermax02-if you want good tint work, The Tint Shop in Great Neck did mine...you can see pix on Cardomain and if you want I can send you more by email.

He charged me $180, guaranteed for the life of the car and did 20% Madico Onyx black reflective film all around.

I got mine done at Sunshield Energy Control Systems in New Rochelle. They did a very nice job (tint covers the whole window, no seams) but it was an astronomical amount of money. Then it was too light for my tastes so I had to get it redone for 5% (originally had 20%). If you saw the pics on my website, that was the 20% job.

The reason I paid so much was because I was unable to find a place in LI (or Westchester) that was good enough. Every time I called a place they all said they were "the best". When I started asked them questions they were far from it. I actually went to go look at a place that sounded good over the phone and the work was aweful. The tint rounded near the corner of the window so you could see it when the windows were 1/2 down.

I would love to hear of a good place that does a REALLY good job that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I can take some pictures of the windows 1/2 down so you can see what you should look for (let me know your e-mail). Please post any experiances you have.

Also, the dots on the rear window are a b!tch. Most places will have trouble with them.

Agreed....for most Maximas and Acura TL's that I've seen, most tint places don't even do that spot because of the complexity....My spot did mine and you can tell from the inside its not perfect up there, but from the outside they look great....

Do you have the name of the shop you used in Great Neck? I would like to keep it on file for my next car.

Also, when you say they look "great" is that a rating from an extremly **** critic like myself? The older I get the more I realize that other peoples' rating of a "Great Job" is my rating of "$hit"

you and I are much alike there Spta.....I am very ****, the smallest things I can hear/see....and they will annoy the **** outta me...for my definition of "great" is pretty darn close to the textbook.

throughout my life, I've never seen a "perfect" tint job...I mean perfect as in no bubbles, no "fingers", no seams, nothing....there is always one tiny tiny bubble that you can't kill, there's always one finger you can get down.....always something...

this place in GN that did mine, they were pretty through...yeah there are a couple tiny bubbles at the bottom of the window but you can't see them from the outside very well and the inside is damn near impossible to see them. THe side windows are perfect.

The place has a website, www.Thetintshopinc.com and the number is (516) 829-7336. He only uses Madico film.

I have another place that does a better job, but she doesn't have reflective film, just regular which is why I didn't use her, but her jobs are much cleaner.

Her place is Doren Sound & Security, located on Jamaica Ave in Queens Village, # is (718) 217-7600

Hey Spta...if you want, we can meet up and can compare jobs on our cars.

So you suffer my fate too, huh. I wish sometimes I was not so ****....I would be much happier and probably keep more friends that way!

Actually, I have no bubbles, "fingers" in mine at all. I've used this place for years but the price is just too much now (I won't post what I paid as I got about 4 pages of flames the last time I did.) And I also had them REDO it so you can imagine I spent some bux!

I am tempted to meet, but I'm too paranoid a person to make friends on the internet...I'm sure you understand. Of course if it was a hot chick...

Thanks for the info on the tint places. When it gets nice, I'm going to post some detailed pics of the new 5% tint job.
