Pushed in corner of rear bumper
The rear bumper to my new 03 se got pushed in during a bad snow storm by another car...but it got hit at less then 5 miles per hour and the high density foam inside the bumper that is supposed to keep it from getting pushed in completely cracked off. It seems to me that the maxima bumpers are very fragile and/or defective or something cuz in the past month i have seen 6 others with the exact same thing that happend. I even parked next to a guy that had this happen...he said he didnt get hit hard at all and the same thing happend. i took a heat gun to the plastic...just enough so that i dont make the paint peel to soften it up and i pushed it out. It got creased a bit on the side and scratched, then i touched it up. Not a bad quick temporary fix. n e 1 else have this problem?

My rear bumper got pushed in last year when my girlfriend backed out of my parking space right into a huge landscaping rock. An understandable accident considering the rock is out of view when one is sitting in the driver's seat.
I decided to buy a new bumper cover instead of buying a "refurbished" one or allowing the shop to attempt at "repairing" the damaged one. It cost me around $420 for the new bumper cover, paint, clearcoat, and labor. I shopped around for this price. Most places quoted around $500. You might want to consider finding a new or used bumper cover using the resources on the .org! You may be able to find one cheaper than your shop can find one. This will could possible you some money (depending on shipping prices).
Good luck.

Bumper cover the way to go
Had this happen to me a few months ago. Average price in my area was between $575 and $650. A little high but I think prices were inflated in the north due to inclement weather. With all the accidents the shops by me were charging at a premium. I shopped around however and got a ghetto deal for around $420 also. You get what you pay for. Paint doesn't match that well and I need to get it wet sanded and buffed out. So if I went with a reputable body shop the paint would have matched and I wouldn't have to go back and have the bumper wet sanded. Is the $150 difference worth it? You bet it is. I have $150 to burn on a few low end mods. You be the judge. Shop around that is the concensus here on the board. Good luck. The covers are soft on this car. 5 mile my a#$.
