Confused about my Maxima

The story: I called DAVEB to order a new key coz the top ring of the black head on my OEM key broke on both ends. He offered to cut it for me free of charge and even said I can get the AE key for the same price as the original. I am real happy with that. Then I gave him the VIN to cut the key and he confirmed the car and just happened to mentioned to color. He said "hey a nice grey maxima, huh!" I was like Huh!. He told me the color code shows color code "grey" but my car is jet black. I went and visually inspect it meticously and found no signs of repaint. I mean a lot of the stickers are still there. I am confused! He said the paint code are very close and I know I dont have grey.
Any thoughts anyone?

Re: Confused about my Maxima

Take it to a reputable body shop and let them look at it. They can tell 100% for sure if its been done.

That's madness, gotta hope it's an error on the VIN. That would be pretty strange. What's the difference on the AE keys?

Yeah, I am going to definitely have to do that. Actually, I do see the front passenger quarter panel is painted and its missing the OEM label. Outside of that, I cannot trace prior paint or anything else at all. I mean even checked all around the hinges.
