HELP! -- Exhaust hitting metal after install

I just installed a budget test pipe and b pipe and the stock muffler piping is now hitting the bar it goes over. I tried wedging an old gasket in between it to prevent the noise but it fell out. Any ideas? Im about to see if i can stop it with a coathanger or something.. Any input is appreciated.

Try tightening all the bolts. If they are tight and it's still banging, then take it to a muffler shop. They can move the hangars on your muffler so the muffler sits up higher and that might stop the banging. Or they can do other things, like install a hanger above the brace to hold up the exhaust.

Yeah, the bolts are tight. I got some wire to hold the pipe up a little, but now the muffler is hitting the metal on the top right side of it. So, im just taking it to a shop tomarow to see if they can fix it. I wedged some tin foil in to temporarily stop the rattling. The Budget y-pipe, test pipe, and b -pipe fit is just poor. FAST though..

Just put ceramic/heat tape thickly around the areas where it bangs, or weld a bracket and a rod and use those rubbers they have to connect mufflers or something

I got it fixed yesterday. Took it to a muffler shop and they shortened my test pipe and added another hanger for the b-pipe. The main problem was that the test pipe was too long, so it was pushing the b-pipe and muffler back. The b-pipe also needed some extra support.

I am a little disapointed with the fitment of the Budget parts. However, considering that Cattman and Stillen charge as much for just their y-pipes as Budget charges for their y-pipe, test pipe, and b-pipe together, I am happy as can be.

Sorry! Haven't posted in awhile but I HAD YOUR ANSWER...

I installed a used Stillen Y-Pipe and Custommaxima.com Racing Cat-Delete Pipe three weekends ago. I had the banging on the crossmember as well. You know what I did?

I zip-tied the rear hanger

Seriously! By zip-tie'ing the rubber hanger closest to the 90degree bend ahead of the rear axle, the entire b-pipe assembly was lifted up enough as to not interfere with the crossmember at all. I haven't noticed a SINGLE rattle or vibration in 600miles of driving since then. Hope this helps OTHER people doing any exhaust mods!
