Not the Maxima, but several other cars. ABS I'm sure will be required on all cars in the future. Most auto makers have ABS as at least an option. One thing to remember though, ABS is good but it works better with a good set of tires.

Not in my max, but in my other car, and at dry highway speeds no less. I had one corner that tried to lock up. I could have been the greatest driver in the world, if 1 corner wants to misbehave in that circumstance, I was gonna be sideways.

I hear some racer guys brag how they're for people who do not know how to drive. I was one of those guys before the save in my Talon. I've had driving lessons at Pocono and auto-xsed, I was actually thinking about pulling the fuse on them because I only got them because the car I wanted had them already. I figured I was braking guru. After the incident, I sure was glad I hadn't.

I am sure that ABS can be outbraked. Given stable conditions, stable components (brake usage, tire usage), lots of practice, non-ABS should outbrake ABS.

But for day-in-day out stomp and forget braking, ABS rocks.

However you have to know how to use the ABS. Stomp, Stay, Steer. Get that right and ABS is a blast!

ABS has not saved me from any crashes and I havn't had any but I would not have slid into a trash can on the side of the road if I had ABS. Now I have a nice dent on the fender to remind me of it.

Howstuffworks.com says in slippery conditions a pro driver w/o ABS cannot out-stop an average driver who has ABS. http://www.howstuffworks.com/anti-lock-brake.htm

Also, i believe Porsche said they would be releasing a GT3?? w/o radio, w/o air cond, w/o power windows, w/o power steering, and even w/o LSD. But it will still have ABS brakes.

On a very loose surface (i.e. loose gravel) non-ABS brakes are better. On dry straight flat it may be close. But in the rain, snow, and/or when turning ABS has the advantage I'd think.

weird how only one week ago I almost hit a car in front of me that stopped while I was drooling over a 350z (i know, stupid) and now a abs thread shows up

thankfully I kept a good distance and it was my first time (hopefully last) hearing the ABS kick in... all the groaning and tire squeeling. Fortunately I didn't panic too much and just stomped, rolled for another split second and then steered.
