Eclipse Kill

I'm driving along minding my own business when a girl in her Eclipse comes speeding behind me and passes me on the right. She then continues to weave in and out of traffic as if she owns the road. It just so happens that I pull up next to her at the next red light. I didn't want to start anything so I waited on her. As the light turned green she took off so I said "Ok, time to play." I go into 2nd and run the rpms, once I hit 3rd I was a nice 4 car lengths on her. After that she didn't try anything.

I just wanted to share my first experience.

I believe that the stock 140hp variant is around 9.3 sec for 0-60.

Depends on the year and model. Like you said, the RS/GS was a dog. The GSX 4-cyl AWD turbo (pre-2000 I believe) had either 200 or 210 hp depending on the year and the new GT 6-cyl NA is close to the same.

Do you have an '02 like your name says or an '01 5-speed like your sig says? If you had an '02 she never had a chance. If you have an '01 and she had a GT or GSX, don't miss a gear or she might surprise you.

I played with an modded Talon/Eclipse the other day getting on the freeway. He was riding my bumper down the ramp so I held third and pulled on him about 4 lengths. I grabbed 4th and maintained my lead through 100mph. After that his boost really kicked in, and he walked, no ran by me at 120+.

I don't know what his mods were, but he sure was fast. I think I'd beat him in the quarter, but for out and out road racing, that's another story.

I just ran an Eclipse GT last night here in NJ.

I'm rolling along I287 @ 85mph (typical 2K2 Max cruising speed) and I roll up towards some EGT with a dual exhaust pipes, blue lighting and a ground effects pkg. (aka Rice)

Seeing that this section of I287 was pretty desolate, I pull next to him, matching his speed gave him a quick nod and THEN we were both off and running.

He hung with me pretty good (on my bumper) and even attempted to swingout and pass me (which resulted in him losing some ground - no draft). But at 120 he seemed to fade somewhat and by 130 he had already had enough and hit his brakes.

All in all, I was pretty impressed with the EGT's performance.

Peace.

I have a 2001 like my sig says. I have no mods yet either.
