Totaled my 2002

I was coming home from school on the 3rd and I was broadsided (my fault) by an old lady in a Oldsmobile tank, hit me dead center on my side. there is over $15,000.00 in damage so the insurance agent totaled it. I was really looking forward to modding but I only got as far as a stereo, Injen CAI, and AE door sills. Maybe I'll get another one, maybe I'll go all out and get the 350Z. Thanks for all the info everyone! Maybe I'll post some pictures of the carnage if I find a digital camera. I hope I don't cross over to "the dark side" and get a Civic!

The Injen intake has been used by me, used by another guy on the Org briefly and used by someone before him. It has a few scratches, the filter screen is a little bent up and it's no longer "Injen Technology" it's "Injen hnology" But there is a sticker to replace that part that I haven't used.

Geez - everyone's worried about the car! Glad you're here to tell the story! Hopefully you're not banged up too bad.

Cars come and go - so have fun picking out your new ride (just don't get the fugly 2k4 Max!)

Sorry to hear that, but from the way you drive, I would suggest you get some slower cars like Civic!

PS: Hey, it's for your own safety!

How much you willing to part it for? So the aluminum piping has a few scratches and filter is a little damaged right?

Re: Re: Totaled my 2002

AE sills on the whole drivers side of the car are probably fused in one huge mass of crap. I used to have two seats up front now it's just one and a half seats. Injen intake is in the above condition, I may have some guys at work that want to buy it... I'm not familiar with this but what's the story with all the stereo equipment in the car? I have an extensive stereo in there now, do I have to replace all the factory stuff? Or can I just take out my stereo and put the original stereo in the car somewhere? The car isn't paid off, I'm still waiting to hear what they are going to give me for it. My dad says I need to get my audio guys to go to the body shop take out my stuff and reinstall the factory stuff, does that sound right?? And as for my driving limsandy, I've taken the same way home since High School it was just one of those freak accidents...

I smashed my '99 max more than a year ago with full audio system and I was able to remove everything and replace it with stock. Even other mods I was able to take off. Dont give the insurance company anything aftermarket, well thats unless you dont have the stock part to replace it with.

Sorry to hear about your Max, but glad that you're ok.

I'll tell ya one thing, old geezers, semis, and minivan drivers can't drive for squat (minivan drivers are just slow, period, no offense).

Good luck on whatever you get & keep us updated

Well do I have to replace everything? Or can I just take my crap out and put the old stuff on the seats or something? The guy is going to charge me to reinstall.

I know how that feels man..

I had my 2k2 for only 7 months... and then look

www.pbase.com/minirx7/2k2_accident

But now i bought 2k3... Nothing out there on the market that appealed to me..

UNTIL NOW:

2k4 maxima is so sweet, if you can afford it, go for it.

If not, give the Acura TSX a consideration.

I got my 2k3 because they got me sweet deals on it.

I've been looking at a 2002,3,4 Maxima, an Infinity G35 Coupe, and a 350Z... those are the strongest contenders. also looking at the new Mazda RX-8, Toyota MR2 Spyder, Audi TT, Honda S2000. Anyone hear anything about the Cadillac XLR?
Anyway back on topic, so what's up with this stereo install people?? Do I have pay the guy to reinstall the factory stereo so that it works? Or can I get by with just putting it in the car? I'll have to get some pictures so we can compare. Did your car catch on fire?? I was pretty lucky, I wasn't even wearing my seatbelt (stupid I know) I just hit my head on something everything seems noRmaL so far....

Driving w/o the belt on Thats quite a wide selection u got there, I say g35 6spd coupe if u got enough $ layin around. I peronally think the 04 max is ugly, 02-3 is good. The Z is nice but Id want a 4seater thats why I say the G35 coupe.

The '04 has been growing on me, you have to admit the rear end of the 6th gen looks much better than the "Grave's Disease" look of the 5th gens. Plus haven't you heard about the "extra" 10 hp?

How on earth are you going to afford a 350Z after your insurance goes up to $10,000 + per year?

Dude the XLR is like a 70k car, way out of the league of cars that your talking here. Maybe look at the 2004 CTS (w/260HP) for about the same price as the G35.

Damn! That much? I just liked it for the looks I didn't know I'd have to sell my first born for it! My insurance will stay the same, it was supposed to go down next month when I turn 25, but because of the accident it will stay the same price.

As far as the stereo, you should be able to remove it and not put the factory back in. If you tell the ins company you want to keep the stereo, they will probably remove a couple hundred bux from their portion. Of course, you can always go to the junk yard and remove it yourself and simply stick the factory HU back in there. Nobody will really care....
