2k pricing vs 2k2 pricing

Currently looking for a daily driver, and am seriously considering a 5th gen Max SE. I want an auto, with sunroof and Bose. Meridian package would be nice, but not a necessity. I dont care either way about leather vs cloth. Doing some research on pricing, it sure looks like most people are having a hard time dealing with the reality of the value of their 2k Maxes. On both ebay and Autotrader, people are asking $16k for a 2k, with anywhwere from 30k to 50k miles. It looks like a 2k2 can be had for $16k to $17.5k with 20k or so miles. Seems like a no brainer to get the 2k2, but I would prefer to spend less if possible. Say if I were able to find a 2k with 40k miles in the $12k to $13k range. Am I being unreasonable? Since I want an auto, and will accept cloth, seems like I should plenty of options. I have a couple connections to auto auctions, but it is a bit of a hassle, and always a crap shoot. I would prefer to buy from a private party. Anyways, just wanted to see what members opinions, experience is with regards to pricing. Thanks in advance...

I just purchased a left over 02 new, but I did a lot of research before buying and found out that the majority of the 02' you see for
$17k are prior rental cars, thats why they are all auto, cloth and silver, gray or white(some blue, not many)if you are O.K with that, then go for it. My .02

Look on cars.com too. Anything is possible if you don't need the car right away. Keep checking daily and what you want might come up. But don't forget that people have been getting new 2k3's for around 21k (I remember reading one person got it with the sunroof), and with 0.9% financing, it might come out to the same price you'd pay with say, 5.9% financing on a used car (assuming you're not paying cash).

I wouldn't let the bose be the determining factor on whether or not to buy the car, many people don't like the sound of it anyway, and replace it.

Very reasonable depending on options and miles. I'd say a 2K max should sell in the range you're looking for. The 2k2s are a little more desrieable b/c (1) they're newer with newer styling cues (2) much more hp (3) many more std features (4) come with 6 speeds -which you dont care about (5) bigger std wheels.

If money is a bigger factor over performance, you can find a nice 2K Max for 12-14. Remember those cars are 4 years old already.
