budget y-pipe

what are the impressions of the budget pipe from those that have it?

whenever a topic regarding y-pipes comes up, the only brands that are mentioned are warpspeed, $teallen and cattman. is there anything wrong with the budget, cause at $135 it seems like a steal.

how does it fit, any rattling, good sound?

Re: budget y-pipe

I'll be getting it installed next week on my 2k1 AE...
Check out Franks results at motorvate.ca - he gained an average of 19hp and 19ft-lb, and as much as 31hp at the peak (6000rpm - 6200rpm).

these results were achieved on a 4th gen, so not necessarily you will get the same on a 5th gen. Show me the 5th gen numbers.

I have it on my 2k (cali spec) and i really like it. There was deffinately a good gain from this pipe. I'm sure it would be even better on a fed spec car since it would take out another precat. I recently bought a test pipe and b pipe from Budget to go with it. I am VERY pleased with the gains. However, i had to have a mufflershop cut my test pipe down a little and add a hanger on the b-pipe because it was hitting. No big deal. There were no fitment issues with the y-pipe.

I have no idea why anyone would buy a stillen or cattman y pipe, when they could get any FULL exhaust set-up they want from Budget for the same price.

Does your B pipe have a resonator?

Also, what is the noise increase with the Y and B pipe?

did you mean me? yes w/ resonator. The y-pipe wasnt that loud with the intake but the y/test/b setup is LOUD! If I didnt feel the huge gain I probably would have taken it off. To loud for my taste but i cant argue with results. I'm using the stock muffler, btw.

i was the 2nd 2001 with a Budget Y pipe ...went to the dyno a few months after:

2001 AE Autotragic - Mods: Berk Intake and Budget Y - 2nd Gear Dyno for the Mods vs. 3rd Gear Stock

Same vehicle as above - 2nd Gear Mods vs. 2nd Gear Stock

this was done last year around november. Peak numbers are in my sig.

since then i've added a FrankenCar midpipe and a Budget B pipe.

hope that helps, cheers

Budget is T-304 Stainless Steel and mandrel bent. The Wrapspeed is aluminized steel and does not include shipping.

Which is better? Budget rocks and they answer the phone and do what they say they will. You decide.

huh

what do you mean the 200 doesn't include shipping!? Yes it does! I'm gettin the warpspeed off someone else who has it...What's the difference with the steel anyway? I mean one is made with aluminized and the other is stainless...Is it like comparing tomatoe n tomatoe or catchup n ketsup?

If you buy from Wrapspeed it does not include shipping.

I wonder why Wrapspeed charges almost a $100 more for their Stainless Steel pipe over the aluminized one? Budget doesn't even make an aluminized pipe anymore because they don't last, especially in a northern environment.

If you want to buy a cheaper pipe for more money, go ahead.

if you live in an area that uses salt on the roads during winter, the aluminized steel will rust through over time ...stainless steel will not
