I know 2 people that have had their hood flop up and hit the windshield while driving.

In addition I saw a Sentra's CF hood fly up 20 feet in the air, land and nearly hit another car, then finally got ran over by a third car. This happened while driving 65+ mph on the freeway.

What do all this mean? Get hood pins.

Looks good.

I just don't understand this whole CF hood thing. Why put something that ugly on an otherwise nice looking car? If it is done for weight savings, etc. on a highly modified car, that is one thing...but I would still expect it to be body colored and not this.

First of all, it looks good. I like the way they kept the hood lines in it (some makers wouldn't because of the difficulty).

My opinions: If it were my car, I'd have to paint it body color. I guess it's because I don't get the whole carbon-fiber-look thing that everyone else does.

My recommendations: Definitely get hood pins. I had a friend with a 99 Max that had his CF hood fly up and break his windshield and damange the roof at 40 MPH. It cost like $2000 just to repair the windshield and roof damage. And that wasn't including a new CF hood.

let me ask you a question there studman.....whats the point of dropping $500 on a hood that you're gonna paint???

how would anyone know it was CF if you painted it??? I thought the whole point of CF was that unique design

Lighter weight. And I wouldn't drop $500 on the hood. Probably $350-400 of that is the paint job itself.

How would anyone know it was CF if you painted it???
They wouldn't = stealth = less attention = car still in parking lot after getting groceries. Oops... did I say getting groceries? I meant after picking up car parts at the auto parts store!!!!

I thought the whole point of CF was that unique design
For most people, it is for the look. For me, it would be to done to reduce weight. Which is why you don't see a CF hood on my car. My car isn't gonna be stripped out just to save a few 100 lbs, so I'm not gonna bother with a lighter hood. But keep in mind that there are those who don't care for the CF look, but still want weight-reducing body parts for their cars. If "I" had wanted a lighter hood, I'd have bought a Honda.

Well one point is the design.. But the other point is reducing serious weight.. It's about 1/3 the weight..

And yeah hood pins is a must.. The first day I drove it was scary. I was only doing like 45mph and could see the hood vibrate and wobble.. Slapped hood pins on there the same day

Paint chips also make unique designs, but I don't want that pattern on my hood either.

I agree. If you want the paint chip mod, I've got plenty to spare. I'll even throw in the shipping for free!!!

god i am so sick and tired of hearing people say 'why don't u just paint your cf hood?', 'getting a cf hood is a rice mod', 'it is so stupid of you to mess up your car with that ugly cf hood', etc, etc, etc......

every time someone posts about cf hood, there are always people saying the exact same thing...please...we(people with cf hood) already know your opinion about it. and we didn't get the cf hood to 'please' you. if you don't like it, i have absolutely no problem with that. i mean, i think those grills people put on are kinda ugly and i'd never do that to my car, but i don't say that over and over and over again in different threads...

by the way...the hood looks good. but, is your car really lowered with Eibachs? cuz it kinda looks still high even for the pro-kit. if you don't have Eibachs, i'd pill that sticker off...putting on stickers of something that you don't have on your car, is kinda rice.

Yeah, people really trash CF hoods. To each his own people. I got my hood ready to be put on. I got it to cut a little weight and to do something different to the car besides a body kit and ugly assssss Trendz Grill.

Well, quite frankly if you would read the original post, he stated clearly 'lemme know'. Not 'complimnets only, please'. If an open request is put forth, it should be ready for ANY feedback given.

I let him know.

Fits your ride good bro. I hope that your car is not droped bc if it is you wasted your money and I doubt they are Eibach bc your springs look yellow and I know thats not a Maxspeed drop bc im alot lower then that. Just curious to why you wanted a CF as your first mod?

its possible that his hood is covered with a sheet of that fake carbon fiber stuff, cuz it has all the original contours of the stock hood, and has no hood pins. i dunno though i could be waayyy off.

gee thanks

I know there would be some that did not like the hood. The car was an auction car that i had purchased with a ****ed up hood. So new hood and getting it painted would inlcude getting the fenders and bumpers painted so i figured why not just get a carbon fiber hood. I kinda like the look of it. I don't need hoodpins cuz my hood is locked with the stock latch and a locking hood chain. The hood is made by VIS and it was designed to fit the factory mounting points and look exactly like the factory hood. Finally if you don't like it that your opinion I could care less. I like it and i asked for opinions so thanks for replying regardless. To question the Eibach sticker you are right the car is stock the eibachs are going on this weekend including the prodampers and the anti roll kit. I figured since i was gonna wash and wax it i would go ahead and install the stickers since the car was about to be cleand ready for a wax job and the stickers would stick better below the wax than above.

so thats about it

The VIS carbon Fiber hood keeps the stock contours...And the VIS hood also does not come drilled for hood pins It looks very authentic to me

ive always wondered this, but why do ppl say ' i could care less' to say they dont care at all?
i mean, if you say i could care less, that would imply you do care a little right?
im just wondering
