Car died HELP!!! (long)
Car died HELP!!! (long)
Ok so I was comming back from the car show in boston, and I pulled up to a red light. I then get on it hard in first, churped second, and half way through second, I lost most power. The harder I pushed the gas, the less power I would feel from the engine. I managed to coast into a parking lot and shut the car off. When I turned it back on, it would go to 1100 RPM's like usual, then drop down to 800rpm (the usual idle) then I would hear a click, and the RPM's would strugle and eventualy stall. There was no check engine light. I poped the hood and checked for and loose vacume hoses, all seemed connected correctly. I tried to disconnect the wiring harnes to the MAF, but it was too hard to get off. The only engine mod that I have is a cone intake. Does this sound like I blew my MAF? or could it be the fuel pump or filter? Any response or ideas would be great. The car is now sitting in the P-Lot of my mechanic.

Ok so I just got back from checking out my car at my mechanic's. He's not going to be in till monday, but I disconnected the MAF and the car still stalled at idle. Oh well I guess I'll just wait and see what happens on monday when he takes a look at it.
Ok so my mechanic says it's the MAF, and I'm replacing the intake back to stock and bringing it to the dealership to see if it can be replaced for free, cause a new MAF is almost $500. What caused my MAF to go? Is it the quality of my filter? Could it have been how hard I was getting on the throttle when it busted? Could it have just been defective? I'm trying to debate if I should put a stillen intake on when I get it back, or leave it stock.
