Problem with intake

I have my own little frakencar intake setup on my 2k2/6speed but without the long pipe coming out of the midpipe. I just put a breather filter on the end of the hose. Anyway when I'm driving and get on the gas the car seems to get sluggish at around 4000rpms for like a secoond and then runs hard till redline. It ususally does that from 1st- 3rd gear. Does anyone else have this problem? With the stock intake it runs fine. Any sugestions would be appreciated.

is the breather filter running off of a hose or on the nub coming from the crankcase? i cant say ive seen anyone run the filter on the hose before, most just clamp it to the nub. im not sure exactly where the VI switchover for 2k2 are but i know its lower than my 5200 rpms. i would think close to 4500 or so, so it should be pulling harder there than anywhere else.

Its running off the hose. Also is the MAF sensor suppose to be a certain distance from the intake manifold opening?

i would try running it off the crankcase and use a small clamp to secure it. i dont think the maf has to be a certain distance but as you may know are extremely sensitive on 2k2 models. i would try to keep it near the same position as stock. also, what filter are you running?

K&N filter. I'm thinking about trying some different setups with the intake. I just don't want to lose the "growl" from the intake. I'll just have to experiment.

You won't lose the growl with an Apexi
