4th gen VS. 5th gen!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody. I heard that the 4th gen 190 hp automatic Se max was just as fast as the 2000 Se automatic max. Is this true and whats the difference in their performance?

Our 5th Gen's gained weight over the 4th Gen's. It's really a drivers race. Also, the 5th Gen should be alittle quicker on the highway (O/D off of course)

Neon window spritzers on a 5th gen give better, dyno proven whp gains than spritzers on a 4th gen... Something to do with the light waves in the UV spectrum accelerating due to the fluid dynamics of the license plate holder on the front... If you don't have a license plate holder in the front the 4th gens are better...

I dunno, I heard that somewhere...

biggest difference between a 4th gen VQ and a 5th gen VQ is the Variable intake manifold on the 5th gen motor. because you won't really get the full effect of the variable intake until you reach about 5000rpm, on freeway, a 5th gen will pull away from a 4th gen.

now if you're talking about these two being just as fast in 1/4mile race...well...5th gens do carry extra weight...but i've seen 4th gens that are both faster and slower than the 5th gens...i guess it just depends on mods that you have on your car....

there's no 5th gen NA Auto in the 14s on maxima.org lowest I have seen is 15.1 by Maksim2000, 15.3 by mingo, and 15.4 by iron lung (2k and 2k1s). I know there are sevearl auto NA 4th gen running in the 14s.

4th gen has lighter body, better torque, more aggressive cam....I think it is harder to catch from dead stop.

and like irvine78 said....our VIAS does not open until 5k.

watch out a 4th gen with MEVI.

I though 4th gens in the 14's all had MEVI? the 4th gen doesn't have more TQ, but it has better TQ/weight ratio up to about 2,500rpms. The reason why 5th gens can't get into the 14's yet is because we can't launch as good as 4th gen guys. But we still end up trapping the same or better than 4th gens w/o MEVI. Also if we are talking about GXE/GLE vs. GXE/GLE's, the 5th gens have heavier unsprung weight which will bite them in the **** in most races.

agreed!......our weight and low-end are dragging us down. Even the 4th gen without MEVI are running really low 15s.
