Discount for an '03 Demo

Dealer has an '03 SE demo with 3500 miles. Driven by sales manager. Is an automatic with pretty much everything except Nav. MSRP is $30.5K. Invoice is $27.9K. Says they will sell it for $25.9K (reflects all of the $2000 they have in dealer cash).

I know I can get the same car brand new from another dealer for $25.5K (offering up the $2000 dealer cash and cutting $400 into holdback).

Given these two numbers, it's a no brainer to go with the brand new car. However, if the dealer comes down on the demo, it may be worthwhile to go that route. To me it's a used car, but I don't think they feel the same way about it. Does anyone have any experience on how much have dealers historically come down on demos? Thanks--

he's gonna have to come down more than what he's got at $25k to make that car worth it..

I'd say $23k with the mileage

Ducats,

I picked up a 02 SE Demo last year (No Leather or NAV) driven by the mananger, with 400 miles on it for $21,000

They should knock the price down a bit, considering that they've been driving it, and it's also a 5th gen now and they need to get rid of them quickly...

They are the ones that need to get rid of these quickly, so the ball is in your court.

just beware of demo cars. they may have all the options you want but they tend to not be driven properly.

And by the way our demo's get beat to ****. I loved taking out the 5-speed SE's and just ******* them with around 12 miles so most likely at some point the 3500 mile car has been beat a little.
I don't know who in their right mind would pay the same price for a demo as opposed to a new car. As far as it being beat on, it really depends on the dealer. The guy who was driving my car was the Financal Controller and was about 55 yrs. old, so chances are he wasn't beating it too bad. It's a risk, but one that saved me about 6 grand!

I don't know anything about the sales manager or what his driving style would have been. Although I like the idea of getting a car with low miles for a few thousand $ less than new (a big assumption that the dealer would go for it), it sounds like the demo thing is going to end up being a crapshoot.

I was just looking for a way to counter the effect of getting jack for my trade in. But it's all a vicious circle--those rebates and cheap financing make the '03's very appealing, but they're also killing the trade in value for my '02 truck.

not as much as it's going to cost to fix the stuff that breaks that much earlier because it was beat on....I don't care if he was a 55 year old if that's even who really demoed it

(psst, here's a secret... they may be lying about who drove it as a demo)

Bankston Nissan in Dallas advertised $7K discounts on 2K3 Maxes this weekend. I'm sure they were no mileage new cars. Let me know if I can help but, I'm sure that you can log on to www.nissanusa.com and just as easily find their information. I'd rather get a brand new car that closely fits my needs, than someone elses used demo. I test drove my Max and opened it up rather well b4 buying it.

Its funny that you mentioned about purchasing a demo. I just bought my 03 maxima Se From a nissan dealer last thursday and it was a demo. It had 1,222 miles and they sold it to me for 21,000 (sticker price was 26). Its been running great, doesnt seem like its been ragged on. So I say, if you get a good deal on the demo, go for it.

I was quoted an internet price of $24,600 on a loaded '03 Max GLE about 2 weeks ago. I ended up buying an SE w/moonroof though for $22,400 because I didn't really want leather and I prefer a sportier car to a luxury model.

Best thing to do would be to call a bank and ask them about financing on a car with 3,500 miles on it. I would be willing to bet that they don't give you new car financing rates. I can't imagine paying new car prices for a car with 3,500 miles on it especially when you can buy a new one for less!
