Cleaning headlights

Last weekend I finaly recieved my used AE headlights. They were supose to be used for only 6 months, but there was a huge sum of scratches and haze on the outside of the housing. Well I went to my friend who works/lives at a detailing shop, and we used a mild rubbing compound (so you can barely feel the grains) and an orbital buffer on them. After a few passes with that, we then buffed them with plastic cleaner. I have to say that the results were amazing. They looked brand new... It even got a deep scratch running from top to bottom almost completely out. I have since did this to my old headlights also, and they now look almost new. I recomend that anyone who feels that their headlights have that haze on the outside, or small road scratches, buff them back to knew!

This looks like regular swirl remover? Would the 3M or Meguiars, etc. swirl removers work just as well?
