I have a 2k2 SE without the bose. I want to upgrade my head unit.
Two questions:

1) When you replace the factory unit, how does that look? I mean how does it effect the overall look of the console? I'm really worried about the new new head unit looking bad.

2) What is the best head unit for $300 or less? I'd like it to have an MP3/CD player as well.

Pioneer DEH-P750MP supose to be on market soon. Pioneer site says april, crutchfield has a date for 5/27/03. and it's around 300$ ( crutchfield is overpiced)

Clarion has one that is nice I believe it is model 735MP. you can get it for under $300 on Ebay.

 

is there a system that is already flush with our console. I doubt it but just asking. Also can the stock HU faceplate be taken off and integrated into another cdplayer perhaps????

 

No system is made specifically for our dashes except the stock ones. But there are face kits available for mounting aftermarket radios in our dash.

And the stock HU cannot be disassembled. The faceplate is part of the radio.

 

Yeah I know that the faceplace is part of the radio. I meant that could the guts be striped of our stock cd player and new guts put in. I have heard a few people done it in other cars but havent heard about it in the maxima. Like take the guts of an aftermarket radio/cd player and incorporate it into the stock cd player. Did that even make sense??? lol
