Lowering Windows with Keyfob
Lowering Windows with Keyfob
I have a problem with lowering the front windows with the keyfob. When I walk up to the car when it has been sitting awhile and keep the "unlock" button on the keyfob pressed the doors unlock and the windows only lower about 4 inches and stop. Since I haven't released the unlock button the windows should continue to lower until they are fully open or I release the button whichever is first. I find if I press and hold the button again the windows will lower all the way. I also find if I raise the windows and lock the car to start the entire sequence again that it works perfectly. It won't fail until I leave the car alone for at least an hour. I have tried two different keyfobs with fresh batteries and they do the same thing.
Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do about it? The dealer could not replicate this but I only determined tonight that you have to leave the car alone for an hour and then it will only fail once. He drove the car in his shop and then tried it so of course it worked every time for him.

Happens to me too.... Pretty annoying if you ask me.
I never really thought enough about it to go to the dealer for it.
I'd be interested to know if there is a purpose for this, or just another Nissan design flaw.

I love it.. although there's no way to get them to go back up!!
I did not know that could be done. So I went out to try and nothing.
I held down the unluck button and it opened the driver door, then the other doors and then I kept on holding it and NOTHING.
I have a 2000 should it work.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but i always thought that distance made a difference as well. I was actually talking about it with Lumbee999 here but couldn't figure it out. It always happens when i'm walking up to the car. But always works when i'm right besides the car.
Oh well, at least we have the feature. I use it all the time when it's sunny out. Helps a lot. Only wish the sunroof would open too.

I just tried it at 35 feet on a clear parking lot....and the windows dropped 3.5 inches.
Thanks

It would be nice if you could walk away from your car with the windows and sunroof open, hit the lock button and all the windows, locks and sunroof closed down tight.
Am I asking too much??
Perhaps for the 2005 Maxima.... Are you listening Nissan?!?!?!

The fob is good for 30 feet....maybe more. Check your batteries if your range is less. (of course, California pollution will reduce your effective distance...VBG).

Oh yeah dude, i get a great distance from my fob. I can drop the windows from a good distance, i think even further than 30 feet, but i notice that from that distance it only drops 4 inches, then goes down all the way if i keep holding it. From a close distance, it goes all the way down. Every time. Pretty weird if you ask me.

WOW, I never knew I could do this! I've only had my 2k3 for a little over 2 weeks now but that's a cool feature.

Yeah its much greater the 30 feet. I was amazed the range that thing had! With my viper alarm on my other car, you had to get really close to the car to use it even on new batteries.

You probably did, but did you know you can turn off that damn horn honk everytime you lock the doors with the FOB too? That was the first thing I did.

Nah, honestly that doesn't bother me. But I remember seeing a post on here not too long ago about it, I think you hold both buttons for 3 seconds to switch modes or something right.

The car was soaked inside... We did manage to get it completely dry (although we sometimes wonder whether there is a bit of mustyness in there, probably just worry). She asked the dealer about it and they said that the car was not even equipped to do that!! Of course, I checked, and sure enough, if you press the right button at the right (wrong) time, the windows will go down just as you turn your back!! Anyway, we've not had that problem again, but we always make sure as we walk away that the windows are up!!
