Anyone with 235/50/17 and lowered?

I am looking to get maxspeeds and kyb gr2s. I am currently running 235/50/17 and even though the maxspeeds are a moderate drop, I am worried about the rear. Does anyone run this size and have lowering springs? I am pretty sure the front is safe from rubbing but I am worried about the rear. I will be switching to 235/45/17 after these run out but I need to know for the time being. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

235 40 18 w/ h&r sport springs which i believe is 1.4" in the rear with no problems. not sure if it helps b/c outside dia is probably diff, but i tried.

he has 235/50, you have 225/50 , big difference in size

with the 225s in the back, it looks like it is dropped already, i'm pretty sure it will rub when you go over bumps kinda fast and with weight in the back...its most likely to rub

thats exactly what my thoughts were and i could not remember anyone with my tire size that was lowered. if no one has done this then im going to put my wheels and tires on the back of blu's car and see if they rub.

I really doubt you'll have a problem, I have H&Rs on right now and will upgade to 235/50/17 when my tires are worn. Looks like there's plenty of space.

that is what i wanted to hear. blu has h&r and they should be a little lower than the maxspeeds im getting in rear. so if think there is room and ill be a tad taller then i should be alright.

So can I assume that there will be no rubbing
on lock-to-lock in front or with weight in back
if I put 235-50-17 on my stock 2002 SE?

Sloppy, is the ride w/ the 235/50s noticably more cushioned than the 225/50s b/c I'm really looking to get a more comfortable ride as well as a wider tire. The roads in NY blow.

i did not notice a more cushioned ride but much better handling. the tires had a little more road noise, due to more tire on the road and the type of tire i got. with 235/50 it helps fill up the gap on a stock suspension as well. the load rating is actually higher with the 235/50. lock to lock it will not rub on a stock suspension even with a good amount of weight in the car.

on the same note, I was also contemplating 225/55's as well
because they have a thicker sidewall which means more rubber for more cushioning

that would make a smoother ride and would most likely have no problem with rubbing. i think there was someone who did that size on stock rims and suspension but i cant remember his org name.

i have 235/50/17 and maxspeeds on my car. no rubbing. i too, was afraid that it would rub especially in the rear. but it didn't seem like it dropped very much at all in the back. but one thing is that the drop looks very even, wheel gap on the front and back are almost exactly the same.

oh, and next time i get new tires, i'm going back to stock size. i think it would drop the whole car a bit lower with 225's. everytime i look at my car, i wish i had kept the stock size. the 235's are just too big for 17's. the rims look so puny. for anyone contemplating 235's, keep that in mind. but that's just my opinion.

they are wider on paper, but i'm not sure they are that much wider on the car. the rim is only so wide, so adding more width to the tire, won't actaully put it on the ground. some of that width is contributing to a bigger sidewall. think about putting a really wide tire on (just for analogy sake) a narrow rim, it's not going to stay wide; it will mis-shapen to fit the rim. sorry for such a crappy way of explaining it.

honestly though, i did not feel any difference in ride quality going from 225 to 235. but it's your call. i'm basically going back to 225 because it looks like i'm running 15's or something, with big @$$ tires on them.

thanks for the input. i wont worry about putting my wheels on blu cars since he has h&r and the maxspeeds are a little taller so i should not have anything to worry about. hopefully ill have an even drop as well. with the 235/50, it looks lowered in the rear but the front still have an ugly gap and thats what i want to get rid of. im going with new rims as well that have thinner spokes but look bigger than the stock se wheels. i think after i get done with these tires, im going to run a 235/45 on the new 7.5" wheel.

that should look better than the 235 on our 7" 17's. what's your opinion on how these 235's look on the stock SE's?

i think the tire does look like it overwhelms the wheels a bit but im coming from 15's on an altima so they look big to me just about anytime. i just wanted the best tire i could get when i replaced the potenzas at 18k and i could tell a noticeable difference in the width of the tire from the rear compared to the 225. i skipped on looks before but now im going with maxspeeds, gr2 and new wheels so hopefully that will take care of it.
