check your intake to make sure nothing has come loose. my midpipe sometimes shifts out of the couplers because of the flexing. at 46k, i would say it wouldnt hurt to pull the plugs and check the condition and gap on them. i am planning on swapping mine out no later than 50k. also it would help any hesitation to clean the throttle body, you can find instruction at motorvate

Take off the flexible air intake hose just before the throttle body, and open the butterfly (with the engine off) and squirt all around the butterfly, where it closes. Then get a rag and clean out the dark crud that accumulates there, as much as you can.
Next, button up the air intake at the throttle body, and find a way to squirt more cleaner into the intake while the engine is running. Not sure how to do this on your model. Be careful to NOT get any cleaner on the MAF. Have someone rev the engine to 1500 and hold it there while you schpritz the gummout into the intake. Cleans it up beautifully.
A can of injector cleaner and a tank full of 93 ooctane, and you're ready to roll. I did all of this on my son's '96 and on our Sable. The Blue Max will need it soon.

no. just spray it into the throttle body. you may want to think about cleaning or replacing the filter as well. if its real dark then it might be filtering better but less air is getting in. at least take the clamp off and bang the filter to get the crub off of it.

if its hot out, your car will feel slugish, i have the same problem with mine. when i have like 2-3 people in the car at 70 degrees out, i had trouble pulling on a old *** Chevy caprice wagon,
i'm too lazy to go back to stock to get the power back to the low end because right now it really sucks when its hot out(60+ degrees)
maybe i should check the intake instalation, see what's up there.

just keep the intake hose open far enough to get the straw inside. it would help if you had someone else to push down on the throttle cable or push the pedal from inside. i would disconnect the negative battery cable overnight and see if the ses light goes off.

If you got Gummout on the MAF, that's probably what's causing the check engine light. Disconnect the battery and let it sit for 10-20 minutes, then restart - it should go out.
