Front Strut Install Question

I want to confirm that I installed my front struts correctly. The upper mount (with three integrated studs and three nuts connecting it to the strut tower) looks, more or less, like this:

../----------|
/-----------|
\-----------|
..\----------|

(ignore the periods - I had to add them to make the picture show up right)

I think the "pointed" part of the mount should face the front of the car and this is how I installed it. I tried to confirm in the ESM how to do the install but was not able to find any info.

Could someone verify that the pointy part of the mount should face the front of the car?

Thanks!

Re: Front Strut Install Question

IIRC, the part with the studs only go in one way so there really isn't a chance to mess it up. The upper spring seat, though, does require placement in a certain direction and is indicated with an F for the part that points to the front of the car.

Thanks for the response. I think the spring mount itself has a mark on it that says "Out" or "Outside" meaning it should face the outside of the car. The part with the studs on it has a stamped letter "F", I guess for "Front". I didn't check it, but I think the studs are all evenly separated (meaning that this part could mount any way you want it to). I did have the upper spring mount part installed, I believe properly, with the metal ring facing "out".

I just want to confirm that the part with the studs and the "F" should be installed with the "F" and the point facing the front of the vehicle.

Yeah, the F faces front. The studs look like they could go in any way, but I remember the paper gasket only going on one way indicating that it wasn't as it seemed. No matter though, as long as you got everything to work, good job.
