ON Board Computer meltdown NEWS!
ON Board Computer meltdown NEWS!
Just wanted to post a little followup to my post from Saturday night.
Plaza Nissan, here in Hamilton called me today to tell me that they believe a problem with an engine mount somehow caused a short in the wiring that led to the computer having a complete meltdown.
They informed me that Nissan Canada would not cover the $1900.00 repair under warranty. (2000 SE 72,000 Km's)
The manager then suggested that I call Nissan Canada and raise a stink. I couldn't believe that I would be asked to do the dealer's dirty work for him. Remember folks, I drove the car for 8 days after buying it from these idiots.
I told the dealer that I won't pay one red cent to have that repair made, and I'm now getting advice from OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council). They have suggested that regardless of what the dealer says, that I'm covered by the Sale of Goods Act in the province of Ontario. It basically says that if the car has a major meltdown like that so close to date of purchase that it's their problem not mine.
We'll see. Still waiting to hear from the dealer, on my refusal to pay. Meanwhile, I have one of their crappy Sentra's as a courtesy car.
All feedback on this gratefully welcomed.

Re: ON Board Computer meltdown NEWS!
two things.
i'm impressed that ontario has such an ordnance, and that you would be able to not only contact them but get a response so quickly.
also, that they gave you loaner at all.
where i live, it'd be weeks before a live person would attend to an individual consumer, especially from the state level. also, we'd be stuck with the rental costs or driving around in the broken car.
