More Powdercoating

Today I finished the lower manifold in black minitex and coated the bolts and fuel rail in black chrome. The pictures don't do it justice. But the black chrome turned out darker than it usually does so the parts look almost gray.

Pardon my stupidity, but what exactly do you do to powder coat something.

Spray on the powder with a powder gun that electrically charges the item. Then bake the item @ 400ş for 20 mins (not in your kitchen).

Slowly getting there. Im starting to get carried away with this. Look for alot more parts to get coated in the future.

Damn that looks nice. I'd love to powdercoat my upper manifold that same color, but I don't even know how to check my tire inflation, let alone dismantle my manifold.

Are you going to put little air filters on those nozzles? Your internal engine parts must be very dirty by now.

I just installed that manifold today. I haven't even driven the car yet. Electrical tape does wonders for stopping loud vacuum noises.

Perhaps more will get done tomorrow.

Couple-o-questions

How well does it hold up so to speak, like do you have to keep up on it, like polished parts? Polished parts are a pain in the ****.

What are all the different colors that you could powdercoat with?

How much to do something like your intake manifold?

Thats all for now

All you have to do is clean it from time to time if you want the chrome colors to shine. I chose a color called Black Minitex which is a textured coating that goes great on rough surfaces. It isn't supposed to shine and is really a no maintenance coating.

Checkout www.columbiacoatings.com for a list of what they have. And if they don't havea color you want then im sure someone else does. Just do a search and you'll certainly find more.
