Some people say you just need to cut the hole others say you have to replace and remove resonator tube or something?? Can some one explain please. I did a search and have been reading for about an hour all the posts but it would be nice to have difinitive data on what to do. Thanks ORGers.

You have to cut the hole in the bracket which hold the air filter, then remove the elbow which connects the inlet with resonator , in this place put tube(I use 3" aluminum from home depot)and go to the bottom of the bumper.Sorry but I don't have any pics.I hope this will help.

You can also use that link :

Cant you just cut the hole in the bracket that holds the filter?? Either way you are going to get more air. I thought the whole point of the GAB was no money was spent. Just sawing, or in my case, dremeling the top off.

All what you will spend it's like $9.
You will get more extra air from the bottom.

Do you know if you get better results (than stock) if you just cut the bracket. Reason I ask is I did it today and I am waiting for the damn K and N filter to dry. I wont have time to go outside (its raining like mad too) tonight and I have to work in the AM.

I don't have any prove for that but I can feel and hear mine.I'm not sure how better it is with the bracket only.

As for the resonator, some max have them, some don't. It is a white box attached to the underside of the intake. The max's that don't have them, just has a stub.

That is what its suppost to look like. This was the 1st 1 made. Btw the whole point of the GAB is not to spend less money, its because it works better. Ive seen a stock 02 run 15.0 at the track several times, then we switched it out with the GAB and it ran sever 14.7 and one 14.6 pass 4-5mph faster then it was be4 the mod. It works, #'s do not lie.

The GAB for the 2k or 2k1 you have to take the elbow off, etc.

The GAB for the 2k2 or 2k3 you just cut the end off (where the elbow used to be)... and hook up the CAI to however you want.

Is this better than the Injen? Or should I just buy a heat shield for Injen and forget this?

I'm not a fan of Injens, but to each their own. The Injen sucks in hot radiator air. A heat shield wouldn't do a whole lot. I'd get a Frankencar if I were going to get an intake again.
