Korean cars are not all THAT bad. Fine, they're not as established in the states as Jap cars are, but they're not THAT bad. I was almost floored when I saw the XG3000 on the road. I couldn't believe it (well at least for the car company that put it out and where they came from). As far as the Tiburon...I think along with many other cars companies...(Altima (Nissan), Avalon/Landcruiser/Celica (toyota takes the gold!)and Tiburon (Hyundai) I think they have increasingly just made their tail lights HIDEOUS! I like the old Tiburon and the older first generation Altimas (without the orange signal).

Now before you throw me off this web site for owning one of these, hehehehe, you try getting insurance in NYC at my age with three tickets and a revocation on your record. I had gotten a 2000 Daewoo Lanos for a few months waiting for my insurance to come down to get the Maxima. I mean yes it was cheap....and yes it was mostly plastic inside. But for the money, the car worked great and had a lot of nice features for an economy car (compred to the metro, esteem, etc). So before knocking them with the mindsets that we have (PERFECTION IN OUR CARS!) I think they're great affordable cars for people to have that drive in metro local areas that can't afford what we can.

Sorry Youngjun...

I have to disagree on the Tiburon.

That thing has got to be the most heinous-looking car in all of automotive history.

Okay, second after the Pontiac Aztek, I guess...

I know, I know, just an opinion.

Hey acMax!

Just what is it about Korean cars that make you HATE them so much?

I'm talking about tangible empirical stuff. Just what makes Korean cars that bad? at least in your world.

I'm just curious. I will be working for Hyundai North America in a few years and I really need to know. Is it the styling? I love Hyundai, but I have to admit that Hyundai cars don't look very good. I like the XG300, but hate the styling. Especially the side profile.

Just in case anyone is wondering, many of the Hyundai cars, including the previous Sonata, were designed by Italians.
I don't know why Hyundai would not design in-house.

Anyway, back to my point. Why do you feel Korean cars are that bad? I'm not interrogating you, I'm just honestly curious. What do you think needs to be done to make the cars better? If you can't answer this question, then there is a good chance that you are driven by bias, because you think they are bad without really knowing what makes them so bad.

By the way, I am a Korean myself. I'm from Virginia, where are you from?

A lot of the lenders who finance bad credit won't even finance a Hyundai. The Execl in the 80's was so bad the loans lasted longer than the cars. That is why Hyundai made their longer warranties.
