Mobil1 Synthetic Oil 5Q $19 @ Walmart

This is only available in the store (i.e. not on their website).

Got the info from another forum:

Here's the details from the original poster:

"This deal and this thread is for you if:

You use, or want to use synthetic oil in your car.

Want to save a little money by doing it yourself.

For some reason WalMart only sells these size containers for a limited time each year. It appears to be that time right now. $19.08 for 5 quarts of synthetic oil. As far as i know that's as cheap as you will ever find it, if you can even find it.

Also: If you can trust your car to walmart, and wait an hour for an oil change they will do it for $30 total, filter oil etc. Great deal for synthetic, and no mess.

Edit: Someone asked about the viscocity they sold. I think it was 5-30, 10-40 , and for sure 15-50 (that's what I got).

Turbo + SoCal = 15-50 synthetic."

Edit: Look for a large 5qt Mobil 1 bottle, not individual quarts.

From reading the original thread, I think all Walmarts should carry this. I believe it comes in a large 5qt Mobil 1 bottle.

all wal-marts have the 5-quart bottle but they don't always have it in stock, and they don't all have the $19 deal. That deal is probably local to you. The one near me still has it for $27 or something like that.

How is this a good deal? I usually buy quarts of Mobile1 from WalMart and it is about $3.30/quart

Now WalMart sells the Mobil One at $4.80/quart if you are looking at individual quart bottle.

Just FYI---and I'm sure most of you know this---WalMart's prices vary from location to location based on operating costs and neighboring market competition. They are not always the chepeast.

The pricings of individual Walmart stores might vary from state to state, but usually Walmart IS THE CHEAPEST. If that 5qt bottle costs 20 bucks here in northern virginia, I know it costs more than the tennesse walmarts $18.88, but still it probably is the cheapest in northern virginia.

btw, i'm not saying the 5qt bottle is 20 bucks here. I dont know yet. I'll check it out tonight !

Don't know about that, man. I paid 3.30 for it less than 2 weeks ago. I guess I have to go check, but I still doubt that it is as high as you say here in Minnesota.

Their prices not only vary from state to state, but from store to store in the same city. The local news did one of the "investigations" in my area, shopped at 3 different Wal-Mart's within a 5 mile radius, and found that prices varied over $2 an item from each store. Wal Mart stated they set prices at each store based on operating costs, neighboring competition, and demand. This is their pricing policy company-wide. So, no, they are not always the cheapest. More often than not, granted, but not always. That's why their slogan is "Always low prices" and not "Always the lowest prices."

I got my oil change there today. I did a full syn oil change. Thier serviced SUCKED!!!! On the advertisement, it stated a 15 point inspection, vacuum, and relube the chasis. I saw them the whole time and they didn't do any of that. Yes, $30 was a good price for a syn oil change, but it's wasnt worth it. Next time, im just gonna do it myself.

Purchase the syn oil from walmart, but dont get a oil change there!

I went there on Thursday and bought all of their 5W-30 jugs. There were 4. $18.88/jug.

This is going to be the first time I have used synthetic. Is there anything I need to do before I convert? What filter do you recommend I use with Mobil 1? Is the 9E0000 Nissan filter okay?

J.
