break-in oil???

Is there such a thing as break-in oil? I'm about to hit 1000 miles and was planning on changing the oil for the first time this weekend. I'm going to wait a while longer before switching to synthetic so I was gonna put in a good conventional...Castrol GTX or Quaker State. In my mind it makes sense to change the oil at 1000 to get anything that might be in it from the break-in out. But I've also read that the oil that comes in the engine should be left in for longer than 1000 miles because it's the "break-in oil". Is there anything special about the oil that comes in a new engine that makes it better than Castrol GTX or Quaker State? Thanks.

Some manufacturers use 'break-in' oil, others don't. My volvo cross-country got its first oil change at 7500 miles, my (former) honda said they "could void the warranty" if you changed the oil before 3750. Nissan doesn't use those oils/additives so change at 1,000.

you'll be just fine if you wait until the first 3,000 mile oil change...

Nissan does not use breakin oil.. early oil change is actually a filtration issue, not the oil.. the new oil filters are tiny, I would probably do an early change for that reason only..

I'm changing mine at 1k miles. Will go till 5k before synthetic goes in. This is what I did on my 2k1 and it runs like a champ and hates the taste of oil.
