Shifting A 6 Speed?

I know there have been several posts about the correct way to shift but I could not find them. So here we go again. When those with 6 speeds shift do you put a little pressure on the shifter before you depress the clutch? For instance if shifting from 1st to 2nd do you pull the shifter back (just the littlest bit) and then hit the clutch. I tried this a few times and it seems to work great. My shifts are much faster and even a little smoother then normal.

Thanks

Most manual transmission car manuals specifically mention that you shouldn't even rest your hand on the gear shift lever since that will put pressure on the synchros and help contribute to premature wear, don't know if the Maxima manual has this in there or not. Your pulling on the lever before pushing in the clutch is alot worse than the dead weight of a human arm (unless you're Hulk Hogan). Your shifts may be faster right now, but they'll get bad before too long.

Just shift normally. Release gas, depress clutch, shift, release clutch, apply gas.

But, if you're talking about at the track, then hell yes, apply pressure before depressing the clutch. And also give a little throttle as you re-engage the clutch.

Ok, But for everyday driving it looks like good old fashion shifting is the best for the car.

Just powershift, jk. Normal shifting is fine, clutch in, pull shifter into gear, engage clutch and then hit the throttle.
