ah yes.....falling in love with the Maxima all over again.
The ECU update really works. Its much smoother now at low rpm and the throttle response is better. That in combination with the fact that the BOSE is actually giving a signal to the left side speakers makes the car much better
The 350Z I drove felt soooooooo slow! It has very little low end and not as much mid-range compared to my Maxima. It didn't seem like it wanted to rev and the gas pedal felt lifeless. Does the ECU hold back until the 1000 mile mark? But anyway, it felt good to get back into a properly functioning Maxima. I love my car again.

linear throttle?
I've never gotten a chance to drive a Z, but I've heard that the throttle on the 350Z is very linear. Maybe that's the cause.
I feel the throttle on my 2K2 Max is pretty non-linear. It feels like the 1st part of the pedal travel gives you a lot of oompph, but if you floor it, it really doesn't help much compared to say going maybe 3/4 of the way down.
A coworker w/a 350Z enthusiast 6 speed tried out my 2K2 Max auto and he felt that my car had a lot of power. I should talk to him to see if he thinks his throttle is more linear.
Can anyone here who owns both comment on this?

Yes this was at Gray-Daniels North where I bought the car. They showed little or no resistance when I informed the service manager of the new update. They also were aware of the flaw in the BOSE CD changers. I got in and out in 2 hours. Pretty good experience and they didn't say a WORD about my injen intake or my Magnaflow exhuast. In fact one of the salesmen complimented me on the exhuast.

my buddy is picking up a new Z in about 2 weeks. I cant wait to run him, i think its a total drivers race. If he cant launch his car, and all about the max!

I believe that the reason that the 350Z feels slower is because of its rigid platform & chassis. A strongly constructed structure will make one's thinks that the object is slower in motion than it actually is. I had this same experience ever since I installed the SFC's. The SFC's significatly stiffen the chassis which initially made me think that my car was slower from this mods. Before the mods, my car felt loose and floated like a boat!

My buddy "properly" got his *** handed to him in his 2k2 6-speed max with a frankencar intake...from a dig and from a roll.
Yes a 6-speed max can beat a Z...but the driver of the Z has to SUCK BAD.
If you still think a "properly driven" max can run with "properly driven" Z...take a look at my AVERAGE quarter E.T. and trap...my average which was on only my third run ever down the 1/4 in the Z (on my heavy *** stock 18s) is better than ANY stock 6-speed max by 3 tenths and 2mph...the fastest Zs have run 13.70s@103-104mph....thats a half second and 4-5mph faster than the quickest 6-speed maximas. We're talking multiple carlengths down the 1/4 mile, and a run from a roll gets even worse for the max...believe me, I've done it.
If you still don't believe me...PM Nealoc187 and ask him what happens to his 13 second maxima when he runs me....
I loved my maxima...and I still love maximas...but there is a definite difference in performance between the Z and the max...

I know my car has a 13.7xx@103-104 in it bone stock...I just need the right conditions...
