Excessive Crank Update..
He all,
For those of you that responded to my original post, I took my car into the South Point Nissan Dealership in Austin Tx yesterday and after 10 hours of diagnostics they were unable to determine what's wrong with my max. The mechanic is frustrated because all diagnostics show that the vehicle is in nominal shape but they still continue to get the excessive cranking when trying to start the vehicle and there have been instances where they can't even start the vehicle. This is second day that my max will be at the shop. For those of you that responded to my original post saying that you've experienced the same problem, as soon as hear something I will post it. Wish me luck..
Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with this dealership?
Thx

Here's the latest.. The technician that's working on my car still does not know what's causing the failure. The diagnostics computer is still saying that everything is fine but the car won't start up on a regular basis. They turn the key, the engine starts turning but no fire. They wait a while, they try it again, it still doesn't work. Then they try it again and all of the sudden it works fine, like nothing ever happened.
Now they're telling me that they had another max go into the shop with the same symptoms and that they had to replace the VTC (variable timing chaing) sensor. The service rep hinted that it appeared that there was a tsb for this and that the tech is contacting nissan in regards to see if my vehicle meets the criteria. [B]Has anyone heard of this tsb and where I might be able to look it up?

DARKMETH,
I had the same problem with my Murano and took it to the dealership and they checked the Diag. and could not find anything wrong.
Finally we figuired it out that it was my dam KEY!!!
I guess the program on that is on the chip on my key was going bad and was sometimes reading my key, so that was the reason why it was sometimes starting and not starting at all!
Hope this helps you out
