Average MPH doesn't work worth crap!

Have you guys noticed that the only "trip computer" mode that doesn't work worth crap is the avg. MPH mode??

I reset it (hold the trip button for 1 full second) on a trip just recently and it said - which means it was reset..

Well after driving 80+ mph for a while (over an hour actually), it kept saying something around 31mph!!! WTF! That is SO off..

Unless it is not average mph..

And yes this was not the avg. mpg.. that is pretty accurate (I think) and is always changing depending on traffic and my gear at the time..

I would say that the only display that works is the temp. reading.....

Mine works just fine. I doubt you reset what it wanted you to. And the trip is NOT it. Try resetting the drive time.

Mine does the same thing (03 SE). If I reset it on the highway, it reads low to mid 30s. It's useless.

MPG is way off too. I subtract 5 MPG from whatever it tells me.

DTE seems to work OK, and temp works well.

Only one that works for me is the Temperature reading.. My mpg shows 19 , its probably doing 13.

This is a known issue.

Actual reading -4 = correct reading.

That's strange... when I hold my trip button and reset the MPH to --, it will eventually show a much higher average (67 or so) on the freeway. I have manually calculated my MPG, and like everyone else, my readout is very optimistic. My actual is about 2.5 mpg less than the computer. Some mfgs(BMW) allow you to enter a fudge factor to correct this.

I got mine to show 86mph last night. Are you SURE you're resetting it when the MPH is showing?
