Tail-light and marker light replacement

The idiot dealer could not even replace my stop/tail light.
Anyway, I did it myself. I am so unmechanical, this was a big achievement. I can't get those round clips back in place that secure the carpet. They just don't clip in. I sruggled to get them out, but am damaging them to get them back.
How do I reposition them?
The side marker does not pop out like the manual suggests it will.
Help?

Look in the FAQ's or do a search - there's a how-to around somewhere. Think they pop out with a screwdriver (put a cloth behind it!), but DON'T take my word for it - find the how-to.

Come at the side marker from the wheel with a flat head screw driver and use a towel or clock to go over it. Just don't pry too hard too quick or you'll puncture the light. The clips should easily go back in.
