Hi all, I'm currently looking into a 2K1 AE as a daily driver. I test drove one a couple of nights ago, and didn't like the stock shifter in the 5 speed. Who sells short throw shifters? Costs? I'm new to the Nissan Performance world. I've been reading this board for a couple of weeks and decided to join this forum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Thundermax

As far as I know only Stillen and SMC make short throw shifters for the 5th gen Max. The Stillen one is exspensive ($200+), but the SMC shifter is hard to find. Courtesy Nissan crrently has them on back order. That is about all I know on the subject.

Go to the upper right corner of this page, thundermax . . .

Click on the "search" link, type "shifter" into the Search by Keyword box, and click on the Perform Search button. That will get you started.

Assuming the 2002 comes out with the 3.5L VQ engine and assuming the car isn't substantially larger (i.e., heavier) and assuming you don't need to make a purchase decision right away, then yes . . . it's probably worth waiting for. Otherwise, get the 2001 Max and enjoy the ride!

Thanks guys. The search came up with some results that I will be investigating. As for the 2002, I need a "daily driver" soon. I think I'll be happy with the Maxima AE. I geuss I could always add a supercharger to match the performance of this "3.5L Maxima". I also noticed that performance add-ons for this car are significantly cheaper than add-ons for the other car I drive. That'll make things interesting.
